Every time I think about this series  I always think: Where have you been all my life. The series this year turned 20. 20 years of writing about a cast of characters. Can you imagine. Anita Blake is a necromancer, she raises the dead but death had always been drawn to her. She is the love interest of the Master Vampire of the City and falls in love with a werewolf. The Master's animal to call.
If you haven't read the story- please do. You won't be disappointed. The books start out reading like an old Sam Spade novel but by book six it takes an erotic turn. If you like to read all genres you'll like the series, if you're just reading erotica or adult content books start with Narcissus in Chains, but that's book 10 of a 22 book collection...to date.
Reading series is new to me. Before I discovered them I would have said I was a beginning and end type of reader but with this one I'll say. I hope it never ends.
