Book Description:

Sempre
by J.M. Darhower

Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco had vastly different childhoods. Haven, a second-generation slave, grew up isolated in the middle of the desert, her days full of hard work and terrifying abuse. Carmine, born into a wealthy Mafia family, lived a life of privilege, never having to answer for anything he did. Both now seventeen, a twist of fate causes their worlds to collide, making them question everything they ever believed.

Entangled in a web of secrets and lies, they learn that while different on the surface, they have more in common than anyone would think. In a world full of chaos, where money and power rule, Haven and Carmine yearn to break free, but a string of events that started before either were born threatens to destroy them instead. Murder and betrayal are a way of life, and nothing comes without a price — especially not freedom.

How much will they have to sacrifice? Can they escape their pasts? And, most of all, what does it mean to be free? Not everything is as it seems, and no one can possibly come out unscathed, but maybe, just maybe, it’ll be worth it in the end.

Why!!!!!!

Why did I have to read this book! I missed my sleep! I've been awake for a day and a half, just pausing to go to the bathroom and just picking between meals. It's like I can't stop myself from reading this, to hell with necessary bathroom brakes and food......breathing optional too  ;D .

This book was HEARTBREAKING!!!!

I cannot believe this is an Independent/Published Debut from the author. Although there are words misspelled, i rarely even notice it because i was into the story so much.

Haven was such a tortured heroine, you cannot help but root for her. Carmine blurs the line between hero and bad boy but it was written in a way that clears why he does such things, he witnessed his mom killed in front of him, and being shot himself. He's a tattooed, cursing, bad boy, crass, hot knight in tarnished armor mafia prince.

Events in the book were so in your face scary it never let me in a comfortable blanket to snuggie with their happiness because you'll know that eventually there's something bad will happen.

I need to look for books like this....AND GOODREADS ITS ALL YOU"RE FAULT WHY I'M LOSIN' SLEEP!!!

I just thank the Lord that i'm coherent enough to string these sentences/review before i crash!!!

this book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

i'm a little bit confuse to divide the rating because I think it can't included in under 18 rate despite the H is an high school student and the sex not apparent..Because he swear too much, talk dirty and naughty and all that sh..

and how easy a Life can ripped from your body...
Man, seriously..is that really how mafia work?

I followed this one while it used to be fanfic and it wasn't easy for writer to do it. Her fiance at the time, now probably husband is in police and how much I remember he works on organized crime and is Italian. She spent years doing the research for the book. This books is very close to my heart for many different reasons and one of them is probably following struggle, thoughts, feelings while book was written. I wouldn't recommend it for YA, maybe older YA.

thank you for the added info about the writer and the book tallmocha!

i'm glad to know it was well researched, though it wasn't perfect in the grammar department mind you, but i can overlook it, with the plot and the gorgeous character and plot developments.

jm darhower just posted that there will be a sequel.!!! YIPEE!!! :-*
