  • Might is right. Possession is 9/10 of the law.
Book: Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles #1) by Kresley Cole
Genre: PRN/Dystopia/YA
Published year: 2012
Rating: 5 out of 5 (*****)
The blurb:
She could save the world—or destroy it.
Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.
But she can’t do either alone.
With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?
Who can Evie trust?
As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….

My Review:
Kresley Cole may be one of my favourite author but young adult and dystopia are NOT my favourite genres. I am also so NOT fan of books whose the general plot consists of a series of to-the-death fights to keep only the best fighter in the end, which is the case with this series. Therefore I was a little anxious before starting this book, but I also was curious, so I decided to give it a try and I absolutely LOVED it!

If you already are a fan of Kresley Cole books, you will absolutely love this book. If you never read anything by her but are a fan of YA or dystopia books, you too, will love it.

It's the kind of book that when you'll reach the last chapters and see how many few pages are left, you'll try to slow down your reading to make it last a little longer...

This book is told by two characters but mainly by Evie, the main heroine of the series. You'll find no vampires or werewolves or shifters of any kind in this book. For this series, Kresley Cole has created a post-apocalyptic world where the main characters are the personification of the twenty-two Major Arcana of the Tarot. The result is really not bad at all and despite my reservations about the general plot, I'm really looking forward to read more.

Oh thank goodness I read this! this has been on my To-Read shelf for the LONGEST time for the same reason. I do NOT like reading dystopia AT ALL!!! I always end up confused!  :D :D LOL.
But since everyone has been gushing about it on GR, I left in as a just-in-case-I-get-interested-later-on shelf.  :P
So... since you liked it... I think I'll give it a try....
