Bloodrose (Nightshade 3) by Andrea Cremer...

Warning: Very strong language and feelings. Basically, this is a rant on a book that disappointed me. Parental discretion is advised.

Alright, I've been holding off on writing this because I honestly liked the first two books and I felt like if I wrote something bad about the third one, it would be kind of like blasphemy, but f*** it.
Um, okay so let me just start off by saying...what the bloody hell was that?
They become permanent wolves in the end? That shit's not romantic nor do I want my favorite characters to stay animals after I followed their story for the past 3 years as humans.
The story started off kind of weird with Ren and Calla reminiscing about the past in their "house" even though they're like 16 and that shit's illegal unless you've been emancipated, otherwise you're in foster care.
So just the beginning should have told me to set the book down and back away slowly before I considered writing a horrible review on it. (As you can see, that didn't happen.)
I don't want to ruin the book for anyone that didn't read it, but Ren dies. Okay? Ren. F***ing. Dies.
The only character with a personality and a sexified attitude is killed off, and the whiny one AKA Shay...gets to live?
In what world is this okay? NOT IN MY WORLD, THAT'S FOR SURE.
And this is near the end so I can't just throw the book down because I'm already way in too deep, so like the optimistic dumb ass that I am, I keep reading hoping that Andrea Cremer is playing a joke on us and Ren will come back, save some lives and they'll all spend the rest of their lives as part wolf part human and live happily ever after...WRONG. Ren is dead. Sabine or whatever the hell her name is gets to stay human with this other irrelevant werewolf hunter that I didn't bother to remember his name and the rest are wolves howling in the distance as she listens to them and smiles softly.
The book also consists of Ren and Shay fighting over Calla who has the personality of a rotten apple and is a complete bitch throughout the whole thing. Basically, she's leading Ren on while having sex with Shay.
I can't even...UGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I can't continue this review or else I'll probably cry. Tell me your thoughts on the book and the other Andrea Cremer books.
If my life was a Supernatural episode, all conflict would be resolved with food and Dean Winchester.

FINALLY!!!

So glad I'm not the only who completely hated the way the series ended! I thought the first two books were SO good and I was super excited for Bloodrose but I was so disappointed! I suppose the mission scenes and fight scenes were pretty good. But still.

Firstly, Shay annoyed me. That's all there is to that. But I dealt with it because I had Ren. And then... she killed Ren!! Seriously?!? F***. That. Shit. Characters die. I get that. But this? This just did NOT work for me. And, like you, I decided to be an optimistic dumbass and keep reading. I mean, it's a supernatural world right? There were like, 10 different ways Andrea Cremer could've brought Ren back.

By this point there wasn't much that could redeem the novel for me. But wait! It ends with... permanent wolves?? Really? You're right: that shit is so far from romantic. True essence?? They were human too!! I was super unimpressed.

When I finish a book series it's usually a bittersweet feeling for me. But this was just... yeah. That's about it.

:) Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain :)

I agree with you so much you have no idea. I honestly can't even fathom what was going on in her mind when she decided to turn them permanently. Andrea was probably going through some sort of mid-life crisis. I am disappointed.
