Says techsupportalert.com Review:
They have a few hundred classic works, all neatly arranged and downloadable.  The site is run by the people behind the well-known Nitro PDF products, so you can rest assured that the conversions to PDF are pretty good.

Not a few hundred.  I'd say under a hundred books, but nice selection, if you or your kid is looking for a classic.

Says the site itself:
Planet eBook, the home of free classic literature. All our novels and books are entirely free for you to download and share with your friends, classmates, students, anyone! Scroll down the page to see the full list of free eBooks.

ALSO:
techsupportalert.com has also put together the following:

391 Places for Free Books Online

Many places for audio books, classics & some suprisingly current offerings.  This is a place for digging & rooting around, not for finding anything specific or if you're in a hurry.  (We have STP for that!)

Don't mind helping people.  Do mind being taken advantage of.
