My kindle just died
« on: January 23, 2014, 10:20 PM »
Hello friends, just wanted to ask for a honest opinion.
I´ve had my kindle keyboard for 3 years now, and suddenly the screen went blank with some shades...I guess I´ll have to buy a new one.
I´m reading about the paper white, but not so sure about it, as it has integrated light. Mine had the inbuild light in the case, and I was pretty happy( I need light due to an eye problem , but can´t stand the laptop or tablet one for long periods of time) I read an average of 4 hours a day ( if it´s a lazy day no work or family around, I can be reading for easily 10/12 hours)
So, If you can give me your opinion or share your experience it will be highly appreciated .
I can´t survive without it, and I´ve already gone thought several paperbacks, and don´t have the energy to be everyday going to the library to find new ones ( where I live the selection is not wide enough)

kindle paper white is great option.
especially the 2013 one, it was nice upgrade.
if you have other like Kobo glo (advantage it has sd card so more books, disadvantage not good in service providing as amazon)

I would say go to stores check them out that's the best way.

I got the Paperwhite because of eye problems and I love it. The light reflects toward the page instead of towards your eyes! This is really nice if you have migraines, astigmatism, seizures or such.

I picked the Paperwhite over Fire because of the problems de-drming books that are delivered there. Apprentice Alf and crew still haven't figured a way around this so unless you never plan on uploading a purchase or have K4PC to send the book to neither Calibre or Python method will work.

Lots of storage. I've loaded 200 books into mine without additional storage. Plus it stays charged for a really long time. Good thing since I keep mine on as long as I'm awake.

Did you know you can email books to you Kindle from Calibre? If you only have 1 or two to load it's quicker than sideloading.

Enjoy your new paperwhite!

I'm glad you have a new toy.  I never use my Kindle keyboard anymore.  I read mostly on my mini iPad these days.  I read a lot too.  It is not unusual for me to read 2-3 books in a day.
Please excuse any spelling errors.   I have dyslexic fingers!

I got a paperwhite for Xmas and didn't start using it until the end of January. I still go back and forth between it and my Nook with glowlight, but I really love it. I like the shape better than the Nook too. It seems to fit in my hand much better. I don't keep a cover on my devices, instead I have the neoprene sleeves to put them in when I'm done.
