Please be aware that we have long since finished this.  We NO LONGER ALLOW SHARING OF EBOOKS on this site.  Please do not post a book, it will be removed.  Please do not post a link.  It will be removed.

Dear members

We are in progress of migrating have migrated the site to a new name and defining defined new guidelines. One of the most important is to discontinue hosting ebooks on our website so that we are DMCA compliant.

Over next few days STP's team of Moderators will be deleting all posts from all the Boards containing books and book requests.   These have been deleted.

Please do not make any further book uploads on the site.

Thank you for your understanding.

Note: We will review the new rules when the site is fully migrated, so if you have any suggestions please let us know by contacting one of our Mods.

Wow ok. That was abrupt but I can't say I'm surprised. I always wondered how far this site would go in terms of ebooks sharing especially that it seemed to be growing with a lot of newbies recently and the huge influx of authors on the opt out list. You guys were defying the odds for a US-based ebook sharing site.

It's disappointing but I don't think they had a choice.

You are absolutely right...there was a lot of activity going on and it was bound to catch the wrong attention.  I will miss everyone here, and thank you for the experience  :-*
Please remember the Thank You button :)

I am so angry and so sad that maybe I don´t be able to
    explain myself in English.

I understood very well STP is obligated to do this or pay
with all the consequences,  then,  I am not angry with
them (all contrary, I really love this site, and this site is
    the reflex of them).

And I do unstestood some attitude of the users, but you
know, for me, the real cause of all this (and is not the
autors), is the actions from the Great Enterprises (include
the goverment) to CONTROL the Internet.

I Believe, this (beginning with Megaupload and maybe
before that) is just one measure more for limited the
   Freedom of the Net.

Here in Mexico, I cant find a lot of books, and I dont want
to use my credit cards because I already had a big problem
with them (someone clone my number and make charges).

Did you know in Mexico we can not access Demonoid or
    other sites?

I am in the Net for some time (and not just for books),
and every time is worst, more controled.

I want to Thanks to everybody, because I really enjoyed
my time here, and I know that is not going to be the
same way, not just for the free sharing, but because we
will no have the same freedom.

This is really, really a SAD DAY.

Well, STP is, like the best sharing ebooks that i've ever found. Organize and fast response and all that good thing...i'm very lucky to meet you all, guys...

But still, this is reall dissapointmnt for me, who basically, like, live in the third world country and doesn't really understand about globalization...
i dont have visa or credit card or whatever that people need to make an account at paypal, etc. I dont even know if my mate country can make an account at paypal, because basically, even Amazone not have any courier that can send the thing you buy to my country(you can't use kindle here). So this, like, totally blow me away...

i practically can't keep up with you, First world country people, who will more smart and smart and smart and have more entertainment and pop culture compare to us..

whose law this is, btw?
Jusk asking, so i can sew a voodoo doll with some name..

i understand where you are coming from I also live in a third world country. It is developing but it not quite there yet. Many people i know do  not own a credit card. Some people have kindles and we do get most of the latest tech but most cant afford these things and trying to get the latest books here is an almost impossible.

but I'm happy they hung in this long, as alot of other site are being shut down or have just discontinued file hosting

What I don't understand is why the Twilight Fanfiction thread has been deleted. Are Fanfiction stories considered as e-books now even though they were never published as such?

Trivia24 I'm still feeling my way around but from what I can understand so far (Someone please shut me up if I'm wrong) it was best to just delete all the books (including the 152 thread). I feel bad for the admins & mods I'm sure they are having to deal with a lot of complaints, heartache etc. But we all know (especially if we're enjoying something in the good ole' USA, I'm in Washington BTW) all good things come to an end. I can't wait to see what the future holds for STP. I've had an amazing time, meeting new people, sharing, & learning.

Yes, that's correct and we will restore non-controversial threads in next few days.

It's a new beginning for all of us.

Thank you for the clarifications and looking into it! It's too bad that you're facing so much backlash when changing seemed inevitable at some point. Also, you guys have to be commended for continuously replying to comments/complaints and explaining the actions taken rather than just posting once and leaving it at that.

I found this site because of Twilight Fanfiction. To my extreme pleasure there were added benefits, that I had only just scratched the surface, of. I truly enjoyed myself here, and the kindness and generosity of it's members. I cherished every shared ebook.   Thank you.

I have been a member for nearly three months and I am not that surprised by this announcement. It was clear to me that all these uploads/ downloads were violations of common copyright laws and writers'rights. The opt-out list system was clever but couldn't really fool anyone and couldn't last very long.

I suppose from the number of Opt-out requests that you must have been under mounting pressure from writers, publishers and maybe from law firms and it would not be fair to blame you for shutting this service to your users. It is understandable that you need to protect yourselves from expensive and time-consuming lawsuits.

So I want to thank the moderators and members for sharing their books with everybody, it was good for as long as it lasted. It helped me a lot to learn to use the e-reader I got in February.  :-*

I hope you won't get too much flak from unhappy users, you don't deserve complaints, you've brought much pleasure to many by allowing people to share e-books among them. Take care everybody  :-*
I have just bought a second e-reader so I am still very unsure of how things work on my machine !

I livein  a third world country,
*I don't have credit card, (an international credit cart even less)

* I can't  buy in dollars because:
  1) I don't have any (just pesos)
  2) I can't buy dollars for new policies of my country about exchange.

*exports in my country are closed

So buying any book from a foreign country is impossible

So when US adopt policies against piracy, just shutting download sites, really affect me: my freedom to know more about any subjet (any new material is now published in English, after a long time is translated, if it its translate) and  my choice to read what I want.

I'm really sorry for this new development and yes angry too, not with STP team but with these new laws that cut my freedom

I just wanted to pop in to say that we do still have the bookstore cafe for discussions and a review board where you can read or post reviews for books and authors
