Suggest some books!!!
« on: June 04, 2012, 08:26 AM »
Hi, I've finished my reading list and I'd like some suggestions  I like paranormal, dystopian, sy-fy, historical, fantastic... almost every book type but nicholas-sparks-like romances.

Thanks in advance for any book recommendation, xoxo

Have you read The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa? I just finished it today and it's quite good. I actually loved it. :) It's a paranormal and dystopian book.  ^-^

I've a serious addiction to books so the list is pretty long, right now I'm reading the book of blood and shadow by robin wasserman. So far it is okay  :) dystopian, mysterie, paranormal(from vampires to ETs) and books like Rebecca James' Beautiful Malice are usually what I stick to :) what about you?

I love ya paranormal and dystopian. My list is pretty long too. :) But right now, (since I'd finished Easy by Tammara Webber) I'll be reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth or Endure by Carrie Jones or The Body Finder book 2.  ^-^

You may try Daughter of smoke and bone by Laini Taylor...this book introduces a lush world of angels and devils, necromancy and redemption.
I really loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone, can't wait for the sequel *--*  do you have any other books to suggest?

Ya me too, the sequel is supposed to be out in November ... why don't you try the Bloodstone saga by Courtney Cole ... the first book is Every Last kiss .. here is a brief description:

Born a goddess. Controlled by the Fates. Can Macy's love for her soul mate survive the bonds of time... and death?

17-year old Macy Lockhart is as far from normal as any one girl can be. The problem is, she doesn’t know it yet.

After a bloodstone pendant is mysteriously left on her door, Macy’s life begins to change in ways she’d never dreamed. And while she will eventually come to realize that nothing is ever what it seems, that her life is a tangled web of lies and the Fates themselves pull the strings, for now she is left with only the explanations that they offer her.

Macy is led to believe that if she doesn’t return to a previous doomed life, one in which she served as Queen Cleopatra ‘s handmaiden, the fate of the entire world will be threatened in a way that would destroy history as we know it. She learns that she has lived thousands of lives, each one ending tragically…but none as tragic as this one.

After returning to ancient Egypt, she is faced with heart-wrenching decisions. Unless she interferes with Fate’s plan, the very thing she was born to protect, her soul mate will die leading Marc Antony’s forces against Rome. Can she really stand aside and watch the love of her life die all over again?

In this fascinating novel-length prequel to The Bloodstone Saga, Courtney Cole sets the stage for an epic journey that will have readers holding their breath until the very last page of the very last book has been turned.

What would you do if you held Fate in your hands?

Easy is a great YA in my opinion (not even necessary YA, more for mature YA). My usual problem with YA books is that they are shallow and rely too much on cliches. This is not the case with Easy. The relationship between the two main characters flows really naturally, there is a plot, and romantic angst and what-not, but it doen's feel strained or silly. And the author's literary style is really smooth (can't find a good word for it). So, read it :)
As a reference, a YA author I really like.. Cindy C. Bennett
A woman without curves is like jeans without pockets... you don't know where to put your hands.

As far as paranormal and dystopian go, I love The Host and The Arcana Chronicles.  They're both rated YA, though I wouldn't hand Arcana Chronicles to most young teens I know, more to adults who enjoy the occasional teen book, but they were both pretty great.  There are a few good Arcana fanfictions out there too, though most of those are on Archive of Our Own.
