Only one book for a long journey. What would you choose?
« on: October 06, 2011, 02:08 PM »
Hi fellow STPs

If you have 5 minutes to spare, I have a hypothetical question for you:

Let's say you are to embark on a long journey (months away from civilisation) whereby you can only take one (1) book with you.  What book would choose and why?

Reason I'm asking this question:
I'm wondering if I have missed out on the "book" of a lifetime and I'd hate myself if I did!

Just one itsy bitsy rule:
Book has to be a romance/adult -hey, I don't have anything against YA but heck it, if I'm gonna be stuck somewhere out of civilisation, I'd want me some action ;)

See results below.

I am still curious and it is not too late for your response  ;D

cheers
Aoibheal

If I HAD to choose one book...
It would be Spider's Revenge by Jennifer Estep.
But I would be satisfied with any book by her.

From Aoi:  Ah yes,  I like Jennifer Estep too. Thank you for sharing  ;D

Hi Hotaru

Nuh uh uh..you can only choose one book my dear "snickers".

Afterall, you're supposed to be on a long journey and you can't possibly lug your whole library; No electronics/smartphones/laptops anything that's remotely technological  ;)

So what's your fave book honey??

My fave book Something wonderful by Judith McNaught is a historical romance.  It might not suit you :)  But recently I have fallen in love with Tate and Joe.  They're the hot male characters from Kristen Ashley's books.  Not historical romance..but contemporary romance category ..I think.  Anyways, if you want to start reading Kristen Ashley's book, you must start with Sweet Dreams (this is Tate & Lauren's story) and then At Peace (Joe and Violet).

hugs & kiss

*smiles* Hi Aoi! ummm....you caught me on that one -.- :)

very true, a journey isn't supposed to be filled with electronics....and you did say one book......but there are just too many to pick from all for different moods.

Then.... the title that keeps popping inside my head would be Abigail's Jorney, now this is a christian contemporary romance so it may not be for everyone but you have to give Sarah Fall (author) a chance, she's not really big and famous but her books carry an essence of kindness and finding yourself, giving life a second chance and that the impossible CAN happen (in a very realistic sort of way) and when you're hurting there will be someone to lend you a hand and help you. As bad as life can be there IS something better out there just waiting to happen. :)

btwn the romance for this book is absolutely amazing! I've read around 80 books (that have to do with romance, since i'm a sappy romantic) and none have yet to beat this couple :) you will melt, and it's not even "I love you" every five minutes, it's more of the falling in love and life after marriage. the "happily ever after's" don't end on marriages, it's only the beginning ;)

and thank you for recommending Kristen Ashley's books i will give them a read. ^^"

<3 Liz (my name) :D

The count of Monte Cristo.
Why? You'll know when you read it (movie wasn't too bad either, but the book is just such a perfect book!).
Unpwnable.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer . . . . . . . .or The Host by Stephenie Meyer . . . . . . . . . or Jane Eyre by Charlotte
Bronte  . . . . . . . .or Robinson Crusoe  . . . . . . .whichever you choose .
I can't choose specifically one,ever.   :-\
Although as you said you're going somewhere isolated,I think Robinson Crusoe will be right choice, :) If you make me choose between them, right now I'd choose The Host 'cause I'm hooked with it ever since i read it.
