Author Topic: What are your fave books in each genre? March 2012: Aliens/Sci-Fi  (Read 6443 times)

Offline Suike

Here is the monthly thread where everyone can pop in and list their favorite book from a different genre every month.

This month's poll winner is:

Aliens/Sci-Fi!

...they don't have to be strictly YA or Adult. Just list your favorites and maybe a reason why or a quick summary. (The books do not have to have both species, can be either or both)

I am going to include a poll at the top so everyone can vote for which genre to feature next week. (I included an "other" option...please specify in a post which genre. Thanks)

 Enjoy!!

Hands down, Obsidian by Jennifer Armentrout is my favorite aliens/sci-fi book.  Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Zorn Warriors by Laurann Dohner :D
It's one hot series!!! and really good writing...

Here's the description of the book one "Ral's Woman"
Ariel never knew aliens existed until she finds herself kidnapped and taken from Earth. When the Anzon declare humans useless, she learns her fate—prize for the winner of a brutal fight between large, muscled alien men. Ral is a Zorn warrior. He has also been kidnapped by the Anzon, along with his crew. Forced into slavery, he’s got one thing on his mind—freeing his people. That is, until he sees the small human woman he’s willing to fight to win. He doesn’t just want her body, he wants her heart forever. In the hands of a hot alien, Ariel is about to discover how pleasurable captivity can be.

I'm favorite is the Trek Mi Q'an series by Jade Black. That is something about really hot aliens kidnaping unsuspecting overweight spinsters that appeals to me. ;D

I've not read much sci-fi but I love Jennifer L Armentrout's Obsidian and Stephanie Meyer's The Host. The romance in Obsidian is very entertaining and the heroine loves books and is a book blogger..so that was pretty cool and The Host had the best love square ever between Wanda/Ian/Mel/Jared!

Sci-fi? Oh boy, here we go. I've read so much of that, I can't remember all the good ones.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a classic, of course.

Kenneth Oppel's Airborn/Matt Cruse series is more steampunk, but the later parts - particularly Starclimber - are definitely sci-fi.

Pearl North's Libyrinth was fun, especially since the setting involves a giant library (hence the title). It's more about a love of knowledge (and books) than anything, wrapped up in an interesting future world away from Earth.

Enchantress from the Stars, by Sylvia Engdahl, doesn't seem to be very well known, but it's definitely worth a read. The protagonist is from an interstellar, hyper-advanced society, and has to help solve a problem on a world technologically still in the medieval era, with tech so advanced it can be passed off as magic. Arthur C. Clarke's third law hard at work.

My fav. alien/ sci-fi would be Academy 7
well.. not a lot of green creatures there.. but I've read the book at least 7 times and am hopelessly waiting for a sequel..

I contacted Anne Austerlund and she informed me there could be at least 2 upcoming books.. so am crossing my fingers.

Give it a read and you won't regret it.
