Author Topic: What are your fave books in each genre? May 2012: Historical Romance  (Read 10592 times)

Offline Suike

Here is the monthly thread where everyone can pop in and list their favorite book from a different genre every month.

This month's poll winner is:

Historical Romance!

...they don't have to be strictly YA or Adult. Just list your favorites and maybe a reason why or a quick summary. (The books do not have to have both species, can be either or both)

I am going to include a poll at the top so everyone can vote for which genre to feature next week. (I included an "other" option...please specify in a post which genre. Thanks)

 Enjoy!!

I read totally so much historical romance..but still I can't ever forget story about Gabriel cynster and Alathea by Stephanie Laurens..forgot the title but something '....Passion'
Maybe because that is one of the first historical romance that I've read, but I love it dearly and read it more times than I remember if I'm feeling sick with another books...

Owh..and by Julia Quinn..forgot the title and the sisters name, but it's kind of moonlight and sunset or something...someone humor me?

The newest by Sherry Thomas, Beguiling Beauty...well written..flash, I read this is her debut..can't wait her 2nd book..hope equally or more and not disappointing
First Impression...must know it will be Totally important and I suck it up

I have all Julie Garwood's historical books, and must have read them LOTS of times each.

Must agree with you there dear. Hmmm I must say "The Prize" is my fave, I think I've read that 4x since I first read it way back in High School.

Mine are the BASTION CLUB novels by Stephanie Laurens. Especially the last one: MASTERED BY LOVE ... the hero is one *hot* alpha male and the heroine is strong and confident.

Of course the CYNSTER novels run a very close second, especially the first six: DEVIL'S BRIDE, A RAKE'S VOW, SCANDAL'S BRIDE, A ROGUE'S PROPOSAL, A SECRET LOVE and ALL ABOUT LOVE. These are the original members of the "Bar Cynster" ... first cousins that are rakes, rogues, ex-soldiers and all around classic regency heroes.

Finally, JO BEVERLY's MALLORAN series is great ... one heck of a fun and fascinating family.

U should Tallia, sounds interesting..  it comes in a series. I checked Mary Balogh's website.  funnily, never read this. would be wort tantalizing us to read it :)
It comes in this format.
1) Dark Angel
2) Lord Carew's Bride
3) The Famous Heroine
4) The Plumed Bonnet
5) A Christmas Bride

Funnily, just like Stephanie Laurens and the other authors, lots of links btween them in the books....
Gabriel's and Francis's friend, the Duke of Bridgwater, is the hero of The Plumed Bonnet.

The hero of A Christmas Bride, Edgar Downes, is the brother of Cora Downes, the "famous heroine."
