Sony Quits eReader Business
« on: August 15, 2014, 06:05 AM »
Anybody who is looking forward to Sony's next generation of eReaders can forget it, as Sony has announced earlier this month that it is officially quitting the eReader business.  As the public doesn't seem to be interested in premium eReaders.  However in the mean time you could still purchase the previous iterations of Sony's eReader line from online retailers or high street stores.  But hurry as these will be the last of Sony's eReader available commercially.

Here is the source link confirming Sony quitting the eReader business:

Hi DarkGuyver,
just wondering how you are finding the Sony PRS T3. My 650 has just died - the usb connection has failed (only 3 ½ years old - but boy it's seen some use ) and it's going to cost $60 just to look at  .  Sony have offered me a discounted price on the T3 and i'm weighing up whether to take it or look at Kobo.
Any thoughts? Kat

Hi Nin - you are lurking still, but not understanding me - you probably need sleep :D I want to know HOW he finds it to use - not WHERE he found it to buy :banghead:
I think DG works for ASIO - the not so secret govt department here in Austraiia - they do spooky things with IT just like he does. Kat

Ahhhhh, no I'm Chinese(if you have bothered to read my intro thread) and my assignment is to spy on you and report all suspicious activity to other Government Organizations who have nothing else better to do than to spy on you, ninjumper!  ;D

However I do have orders to terminate you if I deem you a credible threat or minor annoyance.  :D :D :D

I honestly love my Sony PRS-T3, it's a slight upgrade from my Sony PRS-350.  It has more or less the same GUI as the PRS-350 and comes with a Book Cover Case as standard (which is a plus).  It doesn't come with a backlight feature so you will have to read in the dark using a external light source or get the cover with lighting feature.  I have the matte black version, which has a really nice rubberized grip that stop it's slipping out of my hand.  The PRS-T3 is also available in Red and White both have a glosses finish, which is probably similar to that of the PRS-350/650.

I would honestly, take Sony up on that offer!  The PRS-T3 is a excellent eReader, the functionality is similar to that of the PRS-350/650 series models.  Also it comes with a book cover as standard, plus if you can update the firmware of the PRS-T3 so you can download books from the Kobo Store.  As the Sony Reader Online Store has gone out of business.

I would not bother with Kobo's eReaders as you have to install eReader management software prior to transferring books to and from your eReader.
