Which E-reader are you using?
« on: October 13, 2011, 11:48 PM »
Hi, I wanted to know what is the most bought e-reader and the best place to do so is... here :D

If you have comments or like to expand more about your selection or the reasons - you're welcome! Your experience might help other users when they consider buying an e-reader. By the way, if you have two or more different e-readers you're certainly encouraged to vote for each of them! 8)  (Yes, the vote limit was modified. Much thanks to Mr. Admin!)

Any comments about the poll are also welcome.

All the best and thanks! :)

i love my Kindle (k3 - keyboard)! just 18 months ago, i never would have dreamed that i'd love an ereader as much as i do. i LOVE holding a book in my hands, but my Kindle makes it so much easier for me to read - any where, any time!

i prefer the Kindle over a Kindle Touch - i like to read one handed, and it's so easy to move the tip of my finger to change the page.

i hear others complain about no light, but i keep a small book light on my nightstand, so if i do read at night, i use it! i prefer the light-weight K3 and case to something with a built in light that i would seldom use!

At the moment my next purchase is probably going to be a fully-fledged Tablet so any ereader "upgrades" will have to wait. That Nexus 7 is just so damn sexy...and cheap.

I just bought the Nexus 7 for e-reading and I LOVE it so far. Works right with Calibre, you just need a File Manager App and and e-Reader app for book purchases that aren't from Google Books (such as Amazon exclusives).

Mobipocket Reader discontinued
« Reply #145 on: October 17, 2012, 05:09 PM »
I haven't been able to download the Mobipocket Reader for a few weeks, now.  So I wrote to Amazon and they wrote back:

Please be informed that Mobipocket.com is transferring all of its activity to the Amazon
Kindle store. You'll not be able download any of the Mobipocket readers and eBook from
Mobipocket website but you can continue to read or re-download the books you have already
purchased on Mobipocket.com if you have the reader installed.

You can use any of the free Kindle applications to read these books.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced in this case.

Best Regards,

Well, that depends if the AC Adapter you are using has a microUSB connector.  If the adapter supplied with your Sony PRS-300 use the traditional charging connector then you cann't used it to charge the Sony PRS-T2 as it charges via the microUSB port.  However you can get a third party microUSB charger pretty cheaply if you search for it online or your local high street electronics retailer.

I have a Kindle 3 and love it.
Because of the new Kindle paper white with back-light i am thinking to buy this one to.
But the reviews on Amazon are not really  one minded so i think i will wait a few months.

I just bought this last week from Walmart when I saw the price. I've been wanting an ereader for a really long time and when I saw this price I just had to buy it. For me it was only one night of babysitting money so it wasn't expensive.

I am waiting to actually get it this friday because i wanted to save money by doing site to store. But once I get it all i care that i can do is read my ebooks on it. I'm tired of reading ebooks on my desktop computer.

I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this ereader and if it is any good and worth it's price?

If you have an Android phone/tablet, check out the Moon+ (moonplus) eReader app (free & pro versions).  It will read ALL formats including mobi, epub, pdf, etc.  & has ton of cool options like wallpapers as backgrounds.  It even has a link to let you download directly from Tuebl, which is how I found Tuebl in the first place :-)

I had a Kindle 2 and a Kindle 3. The K2 is still kicking, my kids use it now, but my K3 died a couple months ago. I also have a Nook Touch, which I've been using since the K3 died, but I don't like it nearly as much as my Kindles.

I'm thinking of getting something new, and am either going to go with a Paperwhite or one of the Nexus tablets. I kinda like the idea of more functionality, but worry about reading on it all night.

recently ordered a cheap 7 inch android tablet (my 1st) to read my books on the go & play music & games too.i chose 7inch so it will easily fit in my purse and palm. i takes 5-10 days to be delivered. eagerly awaiting. hope it works out well.will try that moonplus apps when it gets here.

also been looking at Kobo touch. hmmmm...maybe after at least 2 years after i get my money's worth on the new tab.   so excited already.

More functionality - get the Nexus. However, if you are light sensitive, then I'd get the Paperwhite. There is the K4 which is $69 (I don't like that one...) but that is an option if you want to get both the Nexus + Kindle.

I got the Nexus last week, and I'm loving it so far! I read on white on black at night and it doesn't hurt my eyes at all, and I can use both my mobi and my epub books.

Do you have trouble reading on your tablet? If not, then you're fine to use whatever you're using on your Galaxy. Otherwise, maybe you'd like to stick with Kindle if you have mobi files. ePubs are much easier to convert & their formats are much cleaner so there's also the nook to consider.

The only reason why I never got a tablet to read on is because my eyes get sensitive to light, especially at night, so the e-readers are MUCH easier to read on. I can easily read for hours on it and not be bothered.

I don't know if the Kindle App has this option, but Aldiko and Moon + Reader both have options for night time reading. Aldiko switches to white text on flat black background, and Moon + can be switched to white text on a more tannish looking background, although I believe that is customizable. Both products are free.

You can also search for these apps in whatever app store you use to get it on your tablet easier.

I would advise you to download both the Kindle and Aldiko app, that way you can read both epub and mobi file.

I have the I Pad 2.  My brother gave me mine (he is the best!!). I love this thing more than is possible.  My husband calls it my "play pretty" but he's just jealous.  I have downloaded the Kindle app and it has never given me a moments problem, knock on wood (my noggin'). At one point I was going to get a Kindle Fire, I bought my daughter one for her birthday, she loves it and carries it everywhere she goes, but with the I Pad 2 it would be a very unnecessary expense.   Everyone have a very Happy and safe New Year!!!!!!

Hopefully I haven't replied to this thread yet. Lol. Anyway, I use an Acer Iconia a500 as my main eReading device, (along with other things as well, of course).
