Which E-reader are you using?
« on: October 13, 2011, 11:48 PM »
Hi, I wanted to know what is the most bought e-reader and the best place to do so is... here :D

If you have comments or like to expand more about your selection or the reasons - you're welcome! Your experience might help other users when they consider buying an e-reader. By the way, if you have two or more different e-readers you're certainly encouraged to vote for each of them! 8)  (Yes, the vote limit was modified. Much thanks to Mr. Admin!)

Any comments about the poll are also welcome.

All the best and thanks! :)

Today I was going to pre-order a Kindle Fire because I've been looking into getting some sort of eReader. I didn't bother with it though, I ended up going to Apple and buying a 32GB iPad 2 instead. I think that even though a Kindle is basically one of the high grade eReaders it's not really worth the $200 I would've paid for the Fire.

I know I spend $600 for the iPad but I've been tinkering around with it for the entire day today and it was well worth the money. Not to mention the perks of it being a high performance tablet as well, I can use it for most of my day to day things.

I use what's now known as the Kindle Keyboard in the UK.  I absolutely love it - it's one of my most prized possessions.

I recently knocked it off a table onto a hardwood floor and was devastated when it completely froze up.  I tried rebooting but to no avail so I called Amazon who informed me that it was 12 days out of warranty but they offered me a replacement at the price of £56 which is approximately a third of the website price and it was with me within 48 hours and a courier organised to collect my broken Kindle.  I'm guessing this is a refurbished Kindle but you wouldn't know - it's as good as new.  I thought that was pretty good service.

While my Kindle was out of action I used the Kindle PC ap on my Vaio laptop (thankfully all my books were backed up in Calibre) but I found reading off the shiny screen really gave me eye strain so I don't think I would ever use something like the iPad to read.  The e-ink screens are definitely much easier on the eyes.

Anyway, this was my first post - nice to meet you all. ;D

I have a Kindle and love it. I really love to read, but there's no more place in my apartment to store the paper books. I occasionally give in to a temptation of a big folio with a gorgeous cover and then regret it, since I have nowhere to put it. So, an e-reader is a perfect solution.

Hi STP readers

I have cancelled my pre-order for Kindle Fire because I heard that Kindle Fire 2 will be released only a few months after.  Here's the link where I read about the Kindle 2 possible early release:

I'm currently using my Iriver cover story, touchscreen, Eink and wifi, directly connected to my one and only local ebookstore in Indonesia (Papataka.com). So far, I'm loving it.. it's small and handy. Although i hate to bring reading light everywhere I go. Traffic jam here in Jakarta is the worst. It takes 4 hours (if I'm lucky) just to commute daily from home to office.. this E-reader is what keeping me sane during those crazy commuting hours.

I do have a Kindle, my brother bought it for me when he went to US. But, unfortunately, I didn't use it. Number one reason is because I cannot purchase any Kindle books as I am based in Indonesia. Even Timor Leste and Vietnam can purchase those Kindle books, but no Indonesia. Thanks to all carders here.

The other reason is because I'm too lazy to convert my 600+ ebooks in epub format to Kindle format..

Although, I'm really into Kindle Fire now. My friend from US is visiting in January and am thinking about asking her to bring this along with her, the price is fantastic compare to all its features.

My stepfather gave me Kindle 3G & WIFI last February and I SOO love it that I'm considering buying new one or another as an extra, just in case. Its the BEST gift I ever received next to giving me books. I use it all the time now. I don't buy paperbacks any more and its good thing since my collection is enormous. I can't hardly think of a space for them. There's a new one, Kindle Fire but I'm not yet sure how to use it or what are the limitations of using it in my country. Additionally, I saw on Oprah, her ultimate things, the Sony Reader its coloured, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't got the time to check it yet.

I've been using Bokeen Cybook Opus for almost two years. I really liked it, but due to an accident it's not working anymore... :(

I 've been looking for something similar, I don't want anything too complicated or with a backlight.

What would you recommend?  :)

I use iBooks on my iPhone 4 at the moment. But I'm thinking of getting either a Kindle Fire or a Kobo Touch. Leaning more towards a Kobo touch due to acceptable file formats.  ;D

I just have to chime in here again and say that I love the Kindle commercials. They are cute and clever. I'm a Nook & Nookcolor owner and I would never buy any of the Barnes and Noble ereaders based on their commercials. They really stink! Of course this is just my opinion. :)
