Which E-reader are you using?
« on: October 13, 2011, 11:48 PM »
Hi, I wanted to know what is the most bought e-reader and the best place to do so is... here :D

If you have comments or like to expand more about your selection or the reasons - you're welcome! Your experience might help other users when they consider buying an e-reader. By the way, if you have two or more different e-readers you're certainly encouraged to vote for each of them! 8)  (Yes, the vote limit was modified. Much thanks to Mr. Admin!)

Any comments about the poll are also welcome.

All the best and thanks! :)

I was given a Nook (3G) by my husband about a year and a half ago. I absolutely love it. Only complaint is having to use a light for night reading. This is the device I use for all my epubs.

Then my husband got me a Nookcolor, which I also love. I use this device for books purchased directly from Barnes and Noble. My complaint about this device is reading outside in bright light.

For the first time ever I now read two books at one time. One on each device. The great thing about this is I always have a device charged and ready to go.

I've been toying with the idea of buying the new Nook Simple Touch. And yes... I admit to having a serious problem. :)

You can vote for both devices - the numbers are supposed to win :D

You have also a cool husband that pampers you :) The problem with the Nook Simple touch is...too many nooks? It's really a serious problem ;)

I use my Sony reader touch edition, which is great with the e-ink technology as it's better on the eyes, and I also use adobe reader on my netbook computer :)

Oh, I knew I missed an ereader and the thought nagged but couldn't place a finger on it. Thanks! Added Sony Reader to the list of e-readers in the poll!

Oh, A small note: whoever could not vote for more than one device he/she is using can now vote for each of the devices he/she is using - For example Kindle PC in conjunction with Kindle, Nook Color and Nook Touch, etc etc :)

Thanks to Mr. Admin for the correction of the poll vote limit! :)

Do you read books only on the computer? Or have/plan to purchase a physical E-reader? :) I read on the computer too.

Yep I read books on the computer but I'm still thinking about purchasing a physical E-reader but I still undecided though If I will be on that point of purchasing one I might get a Kindle though  :)

May I inquire why you prefer Kindle and not Nook? Not that I say that nook is better but it's interesting to learn your reasons for choosing Kindle :)

Well before I joined STP I've heard a few things about Kindle and that time I only knew about IPAD.  So my choices were IPAD or KINDLE and I thought I'd rather have Kindle than IPAD. So my choice is not because Kindle is way better but that I've only heard of nook in here and I even have no idea if it will work in my country.   :)

I have a sony touch which was used the most until some time back. Recently bought the iPad and am still enamored, so the Sony is feeling a little left out of late. For my laptop, I use firefox to read epubs and have the kindle for PC too. And for audio books it's my iPod :)

My husband bought me a kindle two years ago for Christmas as a suprise but I kept telling him I did not want "one of those book readers" and would never use it.  He was right I am married to my ereader too.  I cannot live without it.  I take it with me everywhere I go and it is so much better than carrying around books.  I have stayed with the kindle because I cannot stand to read anything that is backlit.  They also have a lighted cover which is awesome.  All of my friends have a nook color and it is fun to play around with but I would not buy it again because I like th e ink.  My husband has the kindle touch on order for me for Christmas this year - Yeah!

I've used HP touchpad, pandigital and some others on trial basis (from friends). But nothing could beat apple, so IPad it is for me. Absolutely in love with IPad.

Edit: If you are planning to buy an e-reader, then I guess which reader suits you depends on your main purpose for it. For me I not only read in IPad, I play (angry birds yay), I browse internet, GPS if I get lost (I am hopeless with directions), Utube and many many more. So if you want to use it for multipurpose, IPad has been perfect for me.

I am a cheap-o so I purchased the Kobo Wireless...it's a good cheap eReader that I use every day and have had no problems with so far- it supports SD cards and you can download/purchase books from Kobo via WiFi. I like it a lot but I do plan on purchasing another eReader soon- I just can't decide which one! Either the Kindle or Nook? Is there an eReader that allows you to type and save your own documents? (Kindle Keyboard?)

Too many choices....maybe I will just buy them all ;)

I also use an ipod touch to read books on the go (easier to fit in my purse than my Kobo, plus it allows me to browse the internet, etc and stay in touch with all you people here on STP at work!) - and I can download ePub's directly from STP onto it with ibooks.

LOL!! Cheap-o or not so long as you get your reading addiction fixed.

-----------------
As for myself, I have given up on taking out my Kindle 2 to read and am now using my HTC android smartphone whenever I'm in public.  Reason:  I'm one of those "lucky" few who lives in a country where Amazon does not cater or ship to.  So I had to purchase it in a roundabout manner ;)  No one can stop me if I want me my Kindle!!  But the downside...Whenever I'm outside reading on Kindle, I have strangers striking up conversation just to have a look/see/touch on it!!  Imagine to my embarrassment, I was at that point reading Lora Leigh's breed series *chuckles* and the guy was poleaxed by the content of my Kindle.  Needless to say, my kindle never get to see the sun again!!!

cheers
Aoi
Having said that, I have pre-ordered Kindle fire.  Sigh...I do hope people will stop bugging me for a look/see/touch tour of my kindle!!
