Hi! Need help... I have a blackberry bold 9790 and would like to read epub books, i tried to look for an app to work but unfortunately can't find one... :(

Besides iPad (iBooks, Bluefire), also using my old, trusty Sony Ericsson P990i (Mobipocket Reader) and iPhone 3G (Stanza) so that when one is out of juice, I can continue reading on another device - 3 different books at a time.

I have a Sony EReader Hubby bought me for Christmas about 5 years ago I love.  It has expandable memory, yay!
This year for my Birthday I got a Kindle Fire from him.  I like this one too because of the backlight when on roadtrips and reading in bed at night (no extra light needed) and multitued of freebies at Amazon.   Also, my kids love it for the game apps you can get.

I have a Sony PRS-505.. love the eInk and the expandable memory (2 sd ports). Makes it easy to demo for people and remove any books you don't want them to see. My kids have Kindle fire, and while I like to play the games on them, the backlight gives me a headache (I work on a pc all day...so that adds to the problem). If my sony ever dies, I'm gonna be ticked, as most of the new options are touch screen, which I hate due to the smudging, and don't have the same type of expandable memory. Also the weight is so close to a paperback, it took me months to stop trying to manually turn the page instead of pressing the button. Other feature I like is being able to put my books in series order...my mom-in-law's nook, in order to know which book to read 1st you have to change the title - even when using Calibre. Sony lets you form collections and add them in the correct order easily. I'm a little an@l about reading a series in the correct order, and it pisses me off to have to search out which book I need when. No wi-fi, but considering how much I was spending on ebooks in the beginning, it was a good choice to limit my access! But now with PTS there is no limit!!!!

Have a Nook Color with an N2A (Nook to Android) card that allow the device to "unlock" it Android underpinning so you have a fully functioning tablet. This is a micro SD card that allows you to "dual boot" & it does not touch the device's operating system & will not void your warranty. You can use all the apps in the Android Market if you have this card. I like this device not only because it provides me with a low cost tablet but because I think it is the best ereader on the market. I got it instead of the Kindle becase you can expand the memory (storage) up to 32gig as it has an SD card slot. The Kindle has no card slot (nor does the Ipad). I have several card that I use to store music & audiobooks & photographs as those files are too large to store in the device's main memory. I also have a Netflix subscription so i can watch movies. The speaker is "mono" but the sound is Ok if you use a headset or ear-buds. I have a huge book collection (about 8500 books) which I store in Calibre. I only keep about 300 on the device. It is very easy to copy the books directly from Calibre to the device so i change them out all the time & send them back to Calibre when I finish. Keeping only a small number of books on the device allows me to find things faster & the more you have on the device, the more sluggish it will get. The only weakness with the Nook is that it's "app" store is very poor - mainly games & kiddie apps. That's why I appreciate being able to use the Android market place. I try limit the books I keep on my Nook to epubs but many cookbooks & travel books come in PDF & don't convert well. The Nook handles these well enough but I also have an app called EZ PDF I got in the Nook app store which greatly improves their readability. The email program on the Nook leave something to be desired but I am not into "thumb" typing anyway so I rarely send anything other then I very short message. I do use it to surf the web when I travel & I use the 'Dolphin" browser which is free from the Nook store & much better then what comes with the system. A may get a real tablet - probably an Ipad in the future. However, I know I would still mainly use the NC for reading as it does a much better job, is lighter & more portable. I read by the pool a lot & don't have a problem reading outdoors but I do try and sit in the shade. I really think, for the money, this is the best ereader out there. You can get a refurb for around $149 & I've seen them for less on ebay.

I use a Le Pan II android (4.0) tablet (10 inch) which costs about the same as a nook tablet or kindle.  I absolutely love it!  I have had a nook and kindle.  Gave them to my daughter and son in law.  I guess I am a little bit of a tablet addict because I have tried various brands over the past 2-3 years.

I agree with the things seacity stated above in regards to various e-readers.  I, personally, don't like being bound to specific hidden operating systems or companies.  I also refuse to own a tablet that doesn't allow me to expand my storage with an sd card.   I like having the freedom to read any format of ebook I want on my tablet.  I prefer to use Aldiko Premium as my e-reader app.  I use the dropbox app to share books from my computer to my other devices.  Aldiko automatically imports them to the bookshelf from dropbox.

Anyway, I have tons of ebooks, apps and programs that I "tinker" with.  Deciding on an e-reader is individual specific.  Make a list of your "needs" then your wants before deciding which brand to purchase

My wife uses our Sony Touch. She was a hard sell when it came to giving up paper, but now she can hardly put the reader down.

Yeah, I use to feel the same way about reading.  But since I got a Sony Prs-350, I don't know how I got along without it.  I just love way I can carry over 100 books in such a small user friendly device.

My current one is an Aluratek.  When this one dies it most likely will be a Nook.   

The only Ereader that is NOT under consideration is Kindle.  Why is simple.   I don't like the stunt they pulled back in the early days when they discovered they didn't have the right to sell a book and simply removed it overnight without warning from the Kindle readers.  The books just vanished.  No warning.  Poof.  So if you were reading it or needed it for class that day?  So sorry you were just SOL until they gave you your money back and you could buy another copy somewhere.

I do not like an ereader where the company can feel free to fiddle with the content after purchase without notifying their customers.  It also raises a flag of what they can see on the Kindle for me.  They have no business in my books that I upload that I did NOT buy from their site.

Sure I buy Kindle books.  I use Kindle for PC which my Firewall controls the privileges for that program.  But they all go into Calibre and get converted to epub.  The Kindle for PC is just a storage program.  I don't have to pay for an ereader that some company can control the files of against my consent and without my knowledge.  They already showed they can and will do just that.

Do note, I fully agree if they did not have the right to sell the book, they needed to remove it but they did not have the right to remove it the way they did with honest customers who paid for it wondering what happened to their book the next morning.

I just bought my 3rd Kobo Wireless (refurbished) I have all 3 in use, they are so simple to use, never have a problem.  They look like they are now off the market, so if I have to get another one, it would probably be the Kobo Touch.  I only wish the covers were in color as covers always attract me first.

I don't think they have been pulled off the market yet, as I see them in every electronic shops I walk into.

I limit the SD cards that get inserted in the reader to about 2000.  I am getting a major storage SD with the largest Gigs Possible which I think is about 64 now.  If not Wally has a 32 gig SD sale on a bundle of 2 right now [fingers crossed they still have it after I pay the inheritance tax]  And you can bet my photo ID is good for when I go to vote in PA.

What you didn't mention is the fact that EVERY major ereader also has the same features (highlight and notes). Not to mention the fact that the Sony eReaders cost a third again as much as the Nook Simple Touch or Kindle Touch.

As the owner of two NOOKs, seriously considering a third (the Glow), I do feel the need to say something.

I know nothing about Kindle - I don't shop at Amazon, so I didn't even research them - but the NOOK implementation of notes and highlighting is primitive, at best.  They aren't backed up off the device, if one highlights or annotates "too much" the device will noticeably lag and many people proclaim the feature nearly useless. (I haven't ever highlighted/annotated my ebooks; if I want to make notes, chances are I've bought the hard copy and am penciling in it.)

I am under the impression that notetaking and highlighting is much, much more robust on the Sony devices.
