I'm trying to remember if I've read Distractions by Windchymes. I KNOW I've read at least the first couple of chapters, but I didn't mark it as read on GR, then again, I don't always check if fic is listed there.  It's frustrating, not remembering!

That's a good idea - using GR to keep track. Hmmm. If you skim chapter 6, you would probably know whether you read it or not. I decided to read A Mate for Edward by Alternatetwilight that I mentioned for christineeeee, and it turned out that I had already read it but not moved from my tbr. I'm half way through and enjoying the reread well enough. I think I may reread Stranger than Fiction next. I read that years ago.

It was excellent, until various authors (Teen Wolf authors, mostly) found out we were listing fics on GR, and went freaking apeshit about it. Something about taking fic out of fandom spaces, I didn't really get it. Now, I just check if it's already listed, but I don't add anything unless there's already fic from that author on GR.

Oh, I didn't know this was an issue. I have been adding a lot of fanfic to my GR in the last couple months...

Like I said, generally, the only ones I've seen complain were Teen Wolf (and a couple Supernatural) authors. I never saw any Twific people complaining, so I'd keep on adding it.

For some odd reason, they had the messed up idea that fics were actually being uploaded to GR, which it wasn't, as far as I know.

Damn I need to read a book with Edward in Rio now.
It must have been MotU. Ha.

But for some reason that made me think about this interview I stumbled on yesterday trying to find BDp2 deleted scenes

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
I was trying to remember a story, a scene from which was popping in my head.  Turned out it was in Twilesque.  It is funny. I keep getting flashbacks on that story,  but each time I reread it, I dislike Bella more and more. I love the idea of the story,  but she has made Alice evil and Emmett an idiot who says insulting hurtful things in a joking manner  - though, when he says something to Bella, she starts to cry, even though she just told Alice off for using her visions to manipulate everyone.  Carlisle just wants to be a doctor and doesn't care how the family's thought hurt Edward.  And Bella goes from being abused, poor me, to strong and smarter than vampires. I really hate that this bugs me.

Oh well,  I'm reading about three stories at the same time now.  Really, when the lemons start bothering me or I get bored, I just switch LOL!

I was rereading Shields of Power. Well I thought I was rereading it. But there are whole sections that aren't familiar at all. So maybe I skipped something?   Then I started Subject: Edward Cullen, aka The Womanizer. It has its funny parts but it is taking forever to move along.  So, I started Bella, the Lioness, where Bella is a vampire - Jasper is her real brother. She meets Carlisle during the Civil War and her turns her a few years later when she is dying from a fever. Eventually Jasper and Alice find the Cullen. So we will see how this goes.....

I always read the last chapter/few pages of a book or a fic before starting it properly as I like to know whether I'm gonna get really invested in a couple or situation only for it to end disappointingly.

Well, the one time I jumped into a fic without doing this I got the end of the fic only to wanna scream and throw my iPad as it was far from a HEA or even a HFN
[spoiler=I'm putting this here as a warning!!  ;)]Edward Dies!!!!!

I'm now reading (don't worry I checked the ending this time  :P) You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, which I'm enjoying so far, there's definitely some real LOL moments especially surrounding Phil's death and the ceremony at the commune him and Renee live at.

I have about a dozen partially read fics on my tablet. I've mostly been rereading old fics and those recently mentioned on PTS. I figured that I'd drop a line when I hit something really worthwhile, but since Ella asked... I just finished The Measure of Purity by dolly3078 (a Twilight/HP crossover). AH, meaning they plopped human Bella & human Edward into an altered Potterverse a couple of years after the final war. I struggled getting into it because I didn't understand the AU rules. Then I struggled staying with it because of the cryptic warnings used to (successfully) build suspense that continued for too many chapters.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
And Bella was an immature and reckless PITA. But I suppose I enjoyed it overall by the end. I'll probably try some of the other crossovers you all were listing for a comparison. (I still haven't finished HP and the Cursed Child as I find the format loses the magic of Rowling's previous work.)

What I've been up to - mating and Wild West twifics (summaries at the bottom)

A Mate for Edward by Alternatetwilight (I thought the AU was creative and balanced the characters better than the original in many ways so most of the characters now possess both +/- attributes including Carlisle, Jane, Aro, etc. It was more balanced though the effect on Charlie was quite sad. I thought it ended a tad short/rushed, but it's definitely complete and a worthwhile read.)
Eternally Damned by twiXlite (really enjoyed my reread of this. Bad Edward that you still love. Yummy.)
Mates for Eternity by xxLuAshxx (Instamate when vampire Bella moves to Forks. OOC, but mostly characteristics pushed to the extreme: invasive, shopaholic Alice that really isn't cute; psycho, obsessed Tanya; etc. Aside from that and ANs in the middle of the chapter, it was a good fic.)

A New Frontier by Melolabel (decent historical fic. An unusual albeit disturbing start. Made me look for other pieces by the same author once I finished.)
The Marksman by Melolabel (another decent historical fic)
Foolish Hearts by LyricalKris (a gem of a historical fic, but a reread when I really wanted something new)

That's when I decided to try the crossover mentioned above. *shrugs*

Oh, and I reread Stranger than Fiction by MasenVixen before all of these. Goood one! And I read a silly, weird little fic by FemmeCullen called Hunab Ku involving an astronaut and some Mayan symbols in Mexico. An extended submission from Til The World Ends Contest Entry 2012. It was Winner of the Biggest WTF Moment. Heh heh.

I just finished You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login a non fiction book about the US men's rowing team at the 1936 Olympics.  It was a really good read, everyone had told me that, but for some reason I put it off, but used these Olympics as a reason to read it, and am really glad I did.

Now I am on to more Pride and Prejudice fanfiction You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, it is a modern retelling, but I like how the author has worked some of the classic moments into modern situations, but I am only halfway done.

There is something weird about autocorrect and this site. It doesn't like possesives and sometimes when I double space for the period,  it drops the last letter of the word.  So them. Became the .  So strange. No other site does this.

I came across this and it reminded me of your comment, so I thought you might enjoy.

I read Dagons at Twilight, and it was pretty good. It is the 1st of 3 in the series, but only the first 2 are written. Not sure if I am going to read book 2 right away or wait until book 3 is at least posting. I am considering starting DiniaSteel's Bayou Detective series and there are 3 in that one with the first 2 completed and she is working on the 3rd one.

You will have to let us know how Dinia's stories are.  I seem to remember someone reading them here and saying the mystery parts weren't good. But I can't remember why.

So I just finished Sparks Fly, Tires Skid.  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Definitely a retake on the original Pride & Prejudice. It was an interesting mix of present times and past times and English and American ways.  But I enjoyed it.  I kind of wanted more of an ending, but it was an HEA, so I can't really complain.

It takes place during book 4.  And the Cullens are canon.

I've looked at a few others, but have not been able to get into them.  And sorry, I can't do Bella and Severus.  Because really?  no, just no.  And even Bella/Draco.  No. No. No.

Just finished Cullens Go To Hogwarts and loved it. Now I'm in a quandary: 60 chapters of the sequel are posted, but last updated in 2011. A peek at the end implies it was not near the end of the story. Should I embark?

All that said, I do recall reading and enjoying Edward Cullen, FBI Special Agent & Psychic and the sequel Edward Cullen & Friends - Down on the Bayou. I don't recall any feelings regarding the quality of the writing which is probably a good sign. I'd probably remember if it was awful.

I know without a shadow of a doubt that I read her story Edward's Addiction and the sequel because it was so incredibly disturbing. I think it beat out my #1 (Bret Easton Ellis's American Psycho) when I read

. *shivers* Yeah...

Now I need a brain cleanse. Maybe I should give some P&P fics a go...

Thanks for the warning and also the rec. I enjoyed To The Extreme and the outtakes. On the light side, which was nice. When I read your description I couldn't understand how Phil's death/funeral could be funny, but geeze - I almost gave my cat a heart attack when I barked out laughing. Holy moly.  :D  And it just stayed funny. I needed that.  :-*

I still have love for thunderful's Shields of Power and have been searching for something similar. I also liked Dragons at Twilight. Did you ever read katmom's Dragon Stones? You might like it. It's not marked complete though it ends in a good place. I really thought it was complete but can't find more chapters anywhere. So strange.

As soon as I read Tricklem's mention of Dinia Steele, I felt a slither of unease, and when I read your comment, I searched this board because I had a feeling it might have been something I wrote. I didn't read the sequel to The Cullens go to Hogwarts because she didn't appear to be updating it.  But it sounds like she may have.

I may have to try some of the Dragon ones.  Are they standalone or do I need to wait until it is all done?

As far as Edwards Addiction? Thanks for the warning. I would probably have avoided it just for the mention of lemons and bondage together.  :P

I need to finish Shields of Power. I am at the honeymoon.  LOL! Too many lemons at once.   ;D
