Ya I tried reading this and ended up skipped large chunks and just skimmed the end. IT SUCKED!! I am currently re-reading the Gravity series and I am on #2. Love me some mercward.
Thank God, I'm not alone on this. I saw it (and her other fics) being heavily rec'd on FB (I think) so I was quite looking forward to reading it. I regretted within pages of starting it, just another time I really wish I could flounce.  :( ;D

On another note: there's nothing like having your own kids telling you you're old.  :P
I was on Skype earlier talking to my daughter and saying Happy Birthday to my Grandson (can't believe he's a yr old already), Saxon said to me: "Mummy, you're old like a dinosaur as you're Morgan's Gammy!"  :o :D :D
Then Dior decided to start calling me I-o-saur all day, while the hubby sat back and laughed.  ::)

Ya, my boys like to point out that I am old, short and........well you get the idea. I have read Finders Keepers by SuddenlySandi and I liked that one. I asked if there was any chance of it being done from Edward's POV, but I don't remember getting a response.  I have also read Finding Humanity and Island of No return by her, and I thought they were ok as well, but I haven't read much else by her.

There are two fics that I really enjoyed - The  Cube and Tilt (Cube sequel) - that are posted by SuddenlySandi, but I'm not sure if she wrote them as they are billed as being SD FREEZE stories. I'm not sure what it means, but I've read this series twice and will do so again soon. I love this Bella. She's so weird. There are 6 fics in the series, but I like the first two best. They're funny family stories.

After finishing the last few books of Abigail Roux's Cut & Run and Sidewinder series (m/m, loooved the characters and combo action/romance), decided to try another twific next.

I really enjoyed The FicChick's Objects are Closer than they Appear. Still don't get the title's connection to the story, but it was a very nice and short read.  :)

I have most of those twifics of SuddenlySandi mentioned by lamelurker. I recall those were rec'd in one of our earlier threads (way back when i was hoarding like crazy). I checked and found have not yet read any of her works from the 325 twifics i've read so far. 325... seems such a pitiful no. compared to the thousands i still have stashed. Arrrghh when will i get around to reading them!  :-\  And what do i read next?!  :P

Not twifics, but if you liked Abi Roux's series, you should check out AE Via's Nothing Serious series, I really liked it a lot. Also, Charlie Cochet's Thirds series is a lot like the Cut & Run series, only with shifters.

I just finished Back Home by TheFlutteryButterfly on Fictionpad
"I smiled and looked into my daughter s beautiful eyes, like her father s, the father she will never know..." Secrets, surprises, coincidences and a single mom Bella in the middle! AH

This showed up on the 152 thread and the start of the story got me intrigued, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, the story really dragged and dragged at times for me.

Trying to stay in my twific zone, just finished RRose's Play, Pause, Repeat. It was a nice enough read, light and fluffy. She was right, lemons are not her forte. BxE's first time was slightly descriptive and thankfully short (laughable/kindergartenish use of some words: “he slid his hard member into my folds”  :D gosh, am so jaded now), the few others were very short fade to black. Overall, a worthwhile read, but no rush for you to bump it up your TBR list.

Then I read the O/S prequel, Plan B, of Missus T. Seems interesting and writing was ok too so i will plod on to read Accidentally In Love now.  :) Again, my thanks to Ella for her google drive with fabulous file type choices.  :-*  I have the pdfs i got from Flag ages ago but with my even poorer eyesight these days, i only want to read epubs. So am off to begin reading the epub downloaded from Ella's stash.  :) Let you know how it goes...

Nearly finished reading Melanie Moreland's (Edward’s Eternal) new book The Contract and it is really quite good (solid  :star: :star: :star: :star:'s), though a little predictable but it's an enjoyable fast read. It reads just like a FF even though it's OF, I keep finding myself calling the characters Edward, Bella etc (in my head a least) while I'm reading it.  :P :P

I finally finished Accidentally in Love. It was ok. Felt it was a "unnecessarily" long (by about 600 pages  :-\), would have been better shorter. Almost instalove and the story prolonged til they got to the wedding. Ok to read but no rush...

Still in a twific mood but will read Kahlen Aymes' After Dark series, the pub version of Isabella After Dark.  :) It's chopped into 3 books, making it seem a bit more easy to tackle than the 2,300+ Twific version. (Yeah, i know am only fooling my self  :P). Well, this way i can stop between books without "feeling guilty" I didn't finish a book.

HELP PLEASE WITH MY LIBRARY OF FICS
Okay, I might sound silly, and I don't even know if i'm posting in the correct section.

So I currently have a rather large fan fiction library with a range of fan fiction areas. I like them to be organised. I use calibre as my library, and have it based in my one-drive and Dropbox account. However the only problem i face is that in either of these, there is no summaries available. Which makes it annoying when searching for a specific story.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I'm thinking I should create a catalog from calibre which contains all the fan fictions, but it means i have to look through each one, instead of filtering.
Open to suggestions.

Also recently found out that Flagfic will be up and running in the near future. Yay!  >:D

Ssshhh, and read the fanfiction. ;)

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Sorry, I was traveling and must have missed the update email.

I've been doing a mix of new to me stories and rereads these last two weeks.
The Other One by JiffyKate. Edward has a brain injury that he is slowly recovering from. Bella's has lost someone close to her. There is an insta-connection but it is a slow builder.  Edward is very sweet, but gets frustrated with some of his limitations. It takes a while to get Bella's full story. It was good and not too long.

Where Roads Converge by FluffyLiz. Bella is in her 30's and running from an abusive situation. Edward is much younger, homeless and running from something that scared him.  She rescues him from dying on the side of the road looking for a ride.  This Edward is sweet, a bit scared, and a chef in the making. Bella is an artist and writer. They get snowed in together in a small cottage Bella owns.  I really enjoyed it. A little angsty in spots.  But always an HEA. And I should note it was rec'd on the Jacob Haters Facebook group.  Yeah.

I also read EricasTwilight's She speaks Fear and Truth, which kind of ended in a not so good spot. But wait! There's a sequel!  That has been semi-abandoned unfinished.   >:(  And I've been reading the similar The Haunting of Bella Swan.  It is great if you like paranormal mysteries and it sounds like she will be finishing it in the next couple weeks.

Yeah, not much else to do at 5:30 in the morning when the planes at the airport start waking you up.  It's funny, I can barely hear it during the day -at least when I got back to the hotel.  The free drinks probably helped.   :D :D :D :D

When I pull new stories into Calibre, I have it set to grab the summary of the story. The summary is exactly as it is online.  Sometimes I think I need to add a write in column with the "summaries" from people looking for stories.  Sometimes I think that would be better.  At least when I search.  Calibre will search the summaries which doesn't always help when the summary doesn't say much.

Otherwise, you are pretty much stuck with either exporting the data to a csv file (opens in a spreadsheet) and then adding a summary column there or jut updating the Metadata in Calibre. Both are slow processes.

You can add the info if the stories are still out there online by setting up columns and associated Metadata to the columns and just update the Metadata only.

Hey has anyone ever read the "A Vampire Academy" series by Richelle Mead? I pick up Spirit Bound at our local dollar store for $1.50. Beautiful hard cover novel. I haven't researched this series yet, but I don't think this is the first book in the series. It was the last copy they had too. If it isn't worth the read, I figured $1.50 wasn't a big loss.
