Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

A heads up to anyone trying to log into Twilighted - right now the main problem seems to be the Forums - the site keeps kicking people out.   If you are registered on Twilighted (rdmickey I'm looking at you) for the forums, do CharReader and I a favor and go try to log in and when it kicks you out, contact the administrators (Edward and psymom) and tell them there is a problem.  If enough people complain, she might get on it and fix the problem and actually believe there is a problem.   Thank you veddy much.

How long it took when you register twilighted forum,

Speaking of cliffhangers, I was reading the reviews on a free mystery book on Amazon. I guess the author left it hanging on the free book, there's a second paid book and it has a cliffhanger too. The reviews were nasty because there is no indication how many more books are needed to finish the story and she hasn't written them all.

I have to agree with the reviews.  It's bad enough to leave with a cliffhanger, but then not to know how many books you have to buy to get the full story. It's like reading an abandoned WIP.   >:(
I know how you feel hun, though I like a good cliffy it annoys the hell out of me when an author does something like that.  >:( >:(
Or like when Riley Gray released two books in a trilogy and then said she's going to release the 3rd book originally in 2013, then it got moved to 2014 and we're still waiting in 2015.  >:( >:( :pulling :pulling :33: :33:

Just thought I'd let everyone know that my father died last night in the nursing home - massive heart attack.   My mother called me this morning and was going through a guilt trip - she said he'd fallen in the bathroom and suffered a head injury and "if he'd been home this wouldn't have happened."  Number 1 - he ended up in the hospital and eventually the nursing home in the first place because he'd fallen in the bathroom because he was so unsteady on his feet.  I talked to my aunt after talking to mom and Merlene said he'd actually had a massive heart attack and was dead before he hit the floor.   He would have died no matter whether he was in the nursing home or at home - better the nursing home where they were better equipped to deal with it than at home where my mother would have panicked and gone to pieces and had to call 911 again.  According to my aunt, my mother has since backed off from her original statement and is somewhat more rational.   As to Twilighted - it evidently still has problems.  I e-mailed April (Content1) for more information.  After all the Russian Spammers I've heard about the last two weeks (this thread last week - or beginning of this week - at this point I can't even begin to tell you and Maine.gov got hit by the Russians this week for 3 days running - mainly they just flooded the site with traffic and shut it down to legitimate users - and they were so proud of themselves too - evidently the IT people finally won and got rid of them.)  When I hear from April regarding the site, I'll let you know.  I do know the Twilighted Legal Counsel was on the board today - how she managed to not get kicked off I will never know.

I'm so very sorry about your father, maybe your mother is just upset because she wasn't with him when he died. My grandmother never got over that the hospital didn't call her when my grandfather took a turn for the worse during the night and she wasn't given the chance to be with him when he died.

CharReader - I think part of the problem is that she didn't want to put him in a nursing home - felt he was happier at home.  Only problem is that he needed 24 hour care - at home he was keeping her up at night, would wake her up at 4 am and tell her he wanted supper, etc.  He was only eating 1 meal a day - if that toward the end of being at home, he was incredibly unsteady on his feet as it was, was sleeping most of the day, wasn't taking care of himself (as in shaving, etc.) and she couldn't handle him - he was into the "I am the master of this house and what I say goes" and that included if he didn't want to change his clothes or shave he didn't.  I think some of the guilt goes back to when she put her mother in the nursing home 25 years ago - she was living with my parents, had had several strokes and wouldn't do what she was supposed to do.  Mom got criticized heavily by other friends and family (not the grandkids) for putting her in the Nursing Home.   The difference this time around was that everyone supported her decision to finally put him in a facility after the last emergency trip to the hospital when it was obvious that he needed 24 hour care - she reluctantly went the route of the nursing home which he resisted - obvious by all the calls home from him to take him home.   She resisted.  Now she's guilty - at some point this week she was declaring that he should be home and if his kids cared more (the other 4 all live out of state), we could live there and take care of him and he'd be happy.  None of us is skilled in 24 hour care - we aren't medical professionals - I mean - Glen Campbell's family had at least 5 family members at all times in the house taking care of him and it became painfully obvious to them that he couldn't be home any more.  Same situation here.   It was the best decision for him to be there.   As for her not being there when he died, she was at the nursing home when the hearse came to pick him up - she insisted on waiting and insisted on seeing him before he left the nursing home.  So - basically she was there when it counted - and that I understand.   And actually you are the second story I've gotten today about someone being in the hospital and family not being contacted when the person took a turn for the worse.

Sorry about your shoulder injury, hopefully it won't need surgery.

I can't remember how long it took, it was back in 2009, but come on this is ridiculous, once they fix their mess, contact content1 or any of the other mods and ask her.

Sweetkissy - GemAB is right - when the site comes back up, contact Contact1 (she's been my go-to person these days when I intervene for people).  Forget Elizabeth (psymom) because she'll just ignore you.  I will mention to April (Contact1) when the site comes back up - whenever that happens - your problems with not getting approved.

Just finished this one. It was a cute, quick read. Does anyone know if she did or is planning to do a sequel?
