  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Oh thats right you have insomnia, I on the other hand like my sleep very much, so the thought of going through sleep deprivation again is not one I relish, but the sweet baby that would come with it, is something else.
Maybe you're sleeping for me too.  :D :D
I know hun, that's what keeps me from saying an outright No to the hubby when we talk about having another.  ;D

DLMG is so good so far! I'm at 65% but have to stop reading because of real life responsibilities. Boo. Hiss.
I'm so gonna start it tonight when the hubby is out with his MC as they're having a meet and no it's nothing like SoA.   :D :D
I've got real high hopes for it, but at least with Sarah she rarely (if ever) disappoints so I know I'm in for a good read and it sounds like you're really enjoying is so I know I'm in for a good read.  :)

I've started watching the Outlander series on Starz and I'm really considering watching the rest of the series instead of reading it if they decide to make more seasons.   Have you guys heard if more are in the works?
I know it's definitely got a 2nd season but other than that I've no idea. RDM or someone else might know though.  :kissy:
I actually watched an episode today (it was the wedding one) while around my parents house as my Dad bought my Mum Amazon Fire TV for their wedding anniversary last week, so she gets Amazon TV (or whatever it's called) and she's become obsessed with watching Outlander my Dad told me she's been binge watching it for the last day just to catch up with it.  ::) ::)
I welcomed her to our world when we all start binge watching a TV show like TF.  :D

Does your mom get the episodes free with Amazon TV?   What did you think of the wedding episode?  I liked it juuuuuuuusssst a little bit.   :D

I'm trying to figure out what else Sarah Elizabeth has written...  on Goodreads it just lists DLMG and Dusty 1&2.   Didn't she write something else last year?   I was thinking Demaris read it and recommended it as long as you were ok with certain "triggers".

As far as I can gather she gets the episodes free as it's part of an Amazon channel exclusive, so she's one happy woman now.  :D

It was alright, better than I thought it would be and I totally get the appeal in Sam/Jamie.  :P :P
Don't really know if I'll watch any more episodes but if my Mum's watching it while I'm with her than I might just make myself stay long enough to see what's happening.  :D

Nope, that's all she's wrote so far. Don't know what she's got in store for her next book but can't wait.  >:D
I know Mrs F rec'd Pam Godwin and a few other authors but can't remember which ones now.  ^-^ ;D

Yes, Sam/Jamie is great! And the more I see him the more he grows on me.  *snicker* :D

I can't help but compare it to Game of Thrones and the costumes/scenery etc just doesn't compare, but I suspect it has a much lower budget than GoT.     It's also so much slower paced than the GoT show.

Maybe I am thinking of Pam Godwin...  I remember there was a book that I was tempted to read, but then I kept putting it off because of the triggers that were mentioned.   Then I was wondering if it was Sarah Elizabeth why didn't I devour it the second it came out.     It was something to do with a priest. LOL How's that for narrowing it down?

Lol, I can totally see why the accent really helps.

Never watched GoT but the hubby's obsessed with it.

She co-wrote the book your on about with another fanfic author (not sure who though) under the pen-name Sparrow AuSoleil, I enjoyed it and it's definitely worth a read.

I've read Slow Fading but not got around to reading These Hearts Adore even though it's been on my TBR list for ages, I'll get around to it one day. :)

I tried it with FFnet and TWCS and had no problems downloading.  So I think all is good.

Eventually, I will try it with the other sites I regularly check out. Those are the two I download from the most.  FictionPad has a lot of great fics, but it is a pain to grab from because the Get all URLs from a page doesn't work.

Did you try using Link Clump with Google Chrome on the fictionpad site?  That's what I do and it works great.

I've not read Elemental by TallulahBelle.  Can you give us some idea of what you like about it and we can try to make recommendations based on that?

Elemental and it companion are great stories.

I'm going to have to move!  The Texas state legislature has just taken the first step toward allowing people to walk around with guns openly displayed.  I feel like we've just traveled back in time about 200 years.  They've been taking potshots at women's rights and children's benefits, but this is ridiculous!

Even having George Bush the younger as president wasn't as embarrassing as this is.  Not to mention I may never feel safe in public again.

I managed to get a little more reading time in between real life responsibilities and I'm nearly finished with Sarah Elizabeth's Don't Let Me Go and I absolutely love it.   I have never read another author with her style.  Her writing is absolutely beautiful no matter the subject.

OMG, I am so sorry to hear that fanficgirl. Being in Canada we have some pretty strict gun laws. I wouldn't blame you for moving. No way I would be able to live in that type of environment.
