  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Maybe you're sleeping for me too.  :D :D
I know hun, that's what keeps me from saying an outright No to the hubby when we talk about having another.  ;D

I shouldn't have talked about my little man sleeping through the night, he woke up at 2:30am, but he just needed some snuggles and he was back in bed less than an hour later.

I'm not watching Outlander (or am I going to touch the books, even though I discovered I have epubs of them from a friend, after everything y'all have mentioned even in passing) but I was scrolling through the news and right in the the headlines of one article about the show was a spoiler about the episode that aired last night.   Don't they understand that not everyone can watch when a show is broadcast!!

I'm going to have to move!  The Texas state legislature has just taken the first step toward allowing people to walk around with guns openly displayed.  I feel like we've just traveled back in time about 200 years.  They've been taking potshots at women's rights and children's benefits, but this is ridiculous!

Even having George Bush the younger as president wasn't as embarrassing as this is.  Not to mention I may never feel safe in public again.
I really feel for you hun, as the thought that anyone can walk around with guns legally scares the bejesus out of me. Who on this Earth needs to walk around with a gun on them except maybe the obvious (Police, Army etc), I really makes you question some peoples sanity.  :(

Ohmygee!  Loopy tell me when you finish it.  :o
I've literally just started it this morning, really enjoying it so far, but it seems to be a really short read (88 pages on my Ipad), so it's still novella(ish), hopefully cos of this I might be able to read it all today.

I just sent Sarah Elizabeth a message (my first time) and I probably should have let my feelings settle down before I went all gaga praising her writing!  She'll think I'm a loon.  :D
Lol, I wouldn't worry hun, I did the exact same thing after reading Alessandra Torre and Jasinda Wilder's first books (I know this isn't Sarah's but...) and they sent me an email back and they still email me from time to time (sometimes with ARC's) and I've had CG's from them for my b'day and Christmas.  :cheer:
So you never know, she might message you back and if you're lucky and you start a back and forth you might be able to convince her you are the best peep to send an ARC to in the future.  :D >:D >:D
I know her and Mrs F have messaged each other a bit as I remember Mrs F saying that Sarah had to talk her down after Dusty.  ;D

Yay!
I'm waiting for this one as well, I'm gonna re-read the first 2 books the week or so before it's released as then I'll be ready to dive straight into it as I've got it on pre-order.  >:D >:D

That's not too bad hun and hopefully it's just a one-off, it's when they wake up and don't go back to sleep at all and then carry on throughout the day when like they've actually slept all night.  :banghead: :banghead:

I also just recently messaged another fanfiction writer turned author and she wrote back saying how much she appreciated my message, so it made me happy I decided to message her after I felt a little silly at first.

Yeah, it wasn't too bad, and my husband got up with him when he woke up a little early.  I can't really complain, I have friends with babies the same age who are still feeding in the night, multiple times.

For those of you with Amazon Prime - among their May 2015 releases is Fifty Shades of Gray.

Loopy I was hoping DLMG would be longer too...  I'm now curious about the version that was included in the anthology.  I just realized I bought that too so I need to compare.     I would have easily finished it all at once, but real life kept getting in the way.

I'm curious which books you messaged Torre and Wilder about, maybe I need to read them.  That is so cool that you get to read ARCs from them sometimes!    What are CGs?

Re: Angelfall - I think I'm going to do a skim where I read only the parts with Raffe in them so that I can get caught back up on the story. I seem to remember book 2 being a major cliffhanger just like 1.    Speaking of book 1...  the last scene in that book was just amazing.  The imagery was just beautiful!  It's one of those moments in a book that will stick with me forever.   Do you remember the part at the very very end that I'm talking about when she was looking up?

I've not read MM in ages, I prefered You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login which is Edward's POV it's a bit repeaty (that's now a word  :P) but I always prefer EPOV's of fics.  :)

I've got the anthology as well and I'm thinking I'm gonna have to push it up my TBR list as wanna now compare versions.  :P

Alessandra's book was the first edition of Blindfolded Innocence, which has since been re-released after being edited etc I love this series, there's something about Brad De Luca despite his faults (and he has plenty of them).

Jasinda's book was Unbound (The Preacher's Son #1), it's a really short adult read it's an okay not the best but I messaged her to tell her that I would definitely read future books as I liked her style, this was before she started releasing full length novels under this name I hadn't realised that I had actually read a book by her but it was under the pen-name Amber Sweetapple.  :)
GC= Gift Card.

I love Raffe almost as much as I love Patch (from the Hush Hush series), that ending was wow!! there's no other word for it.  :)

Totally agree with you hun, BtB was GOOD. I think I need to re-read it at some point as I remember reading it while I was finding angst a bit meh and probably didn't appreciate it as much as I should of, especially for a book that has triggers, not that that bothers me as I don't don't really suffer from any.  ;D

I messaged James Ramsey about her book You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.  It was published in May 2013 and marketed as the start of the series, I read it a while ago and something made me think of the main character so my message was twofold; to say and I enjoyed it and find out if there were going to be more in the series.  Yes there will be more in the series, but not real soon.  It was a good read, but definitely left me wanting more.

I couldn't believe they put the spoiler in the headline, no mention of "spoilers included" or anything.  But I guess that is what some "news" sources are resorting to in order to increase traffic, who cares if you ruin it for someone else.  I have seen in about other shows that I don't watch too, shows how little tv that isn't marketed to 3 years olds I watch.

My husband wants more, so he is trying to convince me.  Saw a really sweet 10 week old tonight, totally chill.  But my little man just turned one so we have some time before I have to decide.

Same here hun, I'd rather just stop with what we have but the hubby's from a big family so I think that's one of the main reasons why he wants more but he's definitely gonna have to wait to a bit longer and there's no way I'm having 10 like his mother.  ::) ;D

Did you try using Link Clump with Google Chrome on the fictionpad site?  That's what I do and it works great.

Elemental and it companion are great stories.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Linkclump has been iffy for me. Sometimes it works, but mostly it grabs about 2 and ignores the rest. At least on FictionPad.

Mostly, I am not really happy with FictionPad. Hard to search. Doesn't do pages. Just the add more stories at the bottom. Then the page refreshes and you have to start over. Just frustrating for me.

That sucks! I agree that fictionpad is not a very user friendly site. I usually stick to FFnet and twcs. I usually only go to fictionpad if an author has the story I am looking for posted there and not on the other sites I prefer. Then I just use link clump to grab what I want from that author for Calibre.

LOL! Don't they already drive around with gun racks in the back window of their trucks already in Texas?

I always thought they could do that. It was walking around with a concealed weapon that was a problem?

Thanks for mentioning Coincidental Major.  I didn't realize there was an EPOV so this was an awesome surprise.  Thanksfully Ella had it on her drive! Thank you Ella!   So, should I read these two simultaneously?

I'm glad you liked that last part too.   So good!  Man I loved Patch too...  The Hush Hush series was really good.  I think I remember the last book not being quite as good as the others though?
