I agree. For all the people out there claiming this new thing is just a cash grab, no I really don't think so. I think she made crap tons of money already, off the books and the movies, and if she was REALLY in it just for another cash grab, she'd damn well have finished MS, because she knows that THAT is what all her fans really want, and have been clamoring for forever! I think this new thing was a silly little lark, something a bit different that maybe reignited something in her, but was fairly easy to do, so she went with it.
I agree!!

There are so many stories in which she's a virgin.  Can you give us a few more hints of what you like to narrow down the selection?
Thank you very much for your reply :) I'm sorry I interrupt your conversation in this way.
I'll be thankfull for every title you give me, but I like some HEA, maybe a little Possesiveward and stories with addictive plot.

So earlier today, I got home from college in time to receive my Hardcover copy of Twilight Reimagine, which also included a rewrite of twilight, and I'm already on page 120, done well considering I got home at 6.

For some reason, I did write a spoiler but it didn't show, -.-

Anyway, I'm addicted to it at the moment. I've read better fan fictions about gender sapped roles, but it's okay.
However I am in 2 minds about it.

It's quite addicting and has put a fire in me to read more on Twilight.
But

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

For those who have are also in 2 minds about reading the book, I'd suggest to give it a go, if anything to see the difference inthe plot. :)

That's actually what I'm most interested in, the plot changes.

I still don't get how she had time to do this, which does have plenty of changes, but not to finish MS! >:( I guess maybe because a nice chunk of MS was when they were running from James, so stuff where Edward wasn't there, and thus, never got written.

Unfortunately I got impatient and skipped till the end where the Meyer comment is. And safe to say, there is a massive change at the end and most likely throughout the book. Making me excited now. :D

For those wanting to know, it will be in the spoiler at the end of this comment. But yes, read it. I'm surprisingly enjoying it, even with these character name changes. It's taking me a while to get around to liking the characters though.

And I was gutted it wasn't Midnight Sun. I've been waiting for it to be released for what seems like forever now. Maybe she might do such a thing, when it's the 10th anniversary for the Twilight movie. Maybe... Haha,
Although, yes I'll read midnight sun, I've read quite a lot of fanfiction now of Edwards version of Twilight, so far to say, Meyer is going to have to do a pretty good job at writing Edwards point of view for me to be happy with it. But hey, who knows Edwards mind, better than the creator? So it'll be interesting whatever she writes I suppose.

The following just went up on my homepage news sometime in the past couple of hours.  Stephanie must be getting all kinds of grief from people to get her to comment this early and backtrack with "This isn't a real book....."  Really? Now I know I don't want to read it.......  Shut up and go finish Midnight Sun already.

'Twilight' author says new book is 'not a real book.'

The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Stephenie Meyer acknowledges her new book isn't exactly "new."

Appearing Thursday at New York Comic Con, the author spoke of the 10th anniversary edition of the first book of her blockbuster "Twilight" series. The release includes the original "Twilight" along with "Life and Death," essentially the same story, except she switched the names and genders of the main characters, with Bella and Edward now Beau and Edythe.

"I want to say this is not a real book, and I am totally aware of this," she said at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.

"Twilight Tenth Anniversary/Life and Death Dual Edition" was No. 2 on Amazon.com's best-seller list as of late Thursday, although several readers have complained "Life and Death" often contains the exact wording of "Twilight."

Ok, I'll be honest here. I was just as excited as everyone about the idea of MS, and just as disappointed not to get it. However, I just don't get how her supposed fans think that sending her nasty messages and tweets and whatever, and raging publicly about it, is actually going to make her want to finish it up. It's one thing for us to vent here, among friends, but I do wish people would just leave her (and all authors) alone about it.

If someone got all up in my face demanding that I do something, that's probably the last thing I'd want to do. It'd just make me want to dig my heels in.

I do think everyone should have been made aware of exactly what the bonus content was before pre-ordering, because I'm sure lots of people only ordered because they thought MS was gonna be the bonus content, or even new, bonus scenes of Bella/Edward. I can see people being upset, thinking they were getting new content, and ending up with basically the same story, with gender and minor differences.

Agree. I admire authors. It's tough to write. We don't need to publicly harass/shame them if we don't like what they wrote. Just don't read/buy it.

To be honest, i was surprised she even wrote this. What for? Twilight as a story is done. She should have just written other books unrelated to this similar to what J.K. Rowling did after Harry Potter. It's like she set herself up "to fail" by putting something out there that she knows is not what her fans asked for.

But, that's her choice and i respect her for it. If I were in her shoes, i'd just sit back, relax and enjoy my millions of $. If i still have the urge to write, publish it under a different name to see how people really think of my writing... Just my opinion (and laziness showing).

Amen. That's what I can't wrap my head around....the need to change the characters so drastically......why mess with a good thing? I read where she wrote that a lot of people expressed their negative opinions about Bella' character and wanted to share something different. SM, write a Fic...

IMO if SM couldn't finish MS why not go into Alice? I remember her saying that in BD Alice was going through stuff and had her own story that hadn't been told. Why not go there? I am glad that I didn't pre-order the anniversary book since it turned out to be gender swapping.

Offline Tasha_Angelic_

I'm glad I pre-ordered haha. I mean yes she has gender swapped and stuff, but there is a different ending, so I'm not finding it that bad. Yes, I'm upset that she hasn't finished Midnight Sun. I was really hoping she would. But hey, sometimes when writing something and the. Having it on hold, it takes ages to get back into writing mode. I think that Stephanie just wanted a change from the usual Twilight Bella and Edward.

But still.... Nothing beats the original version. :) (apart from these amazingly written fan fictions that are down to the author. ) haha

Also from Meyer referring to life and death as not a "book". What's up with that? I mean yh she's basically written a fanfiction of Twilight, but surely it still counts as a "book" due to the mega change in characters, and minor changes to the plot.

Ssshhh, and read the fanfiction. ;)

This is from Gossip Cop, :(
Guess she will never finish MS.

Twilight fans should give up on ever reading a finished version of Midnight Sun, and Stephenie Meyer is suggesting Fifty Shades Of Grey is to blame.

As all Twihards know, Meyer wrote Midnight Sun as a pseudo-sequel to her original novel. But instead of being a tradition follow-up, the narrative is simply reversed. The Twilight Saga story is told from the perspective of Edward, instead of Bella.

After an early version leaked online, however, Meyer shelved plans to finish and release the book. In the years since, fans have clamored for her to change her mind. And during a New York Comic-Con panel on Thursday, Meyer revealed she did actually start working on it again earlier this year.

“It felt really good,” she admitted to cheers. But then Meyer said, “So what do you think was the top story on Yahoo the next morning? Grey.” Grey, of course, is E.L. James’ re-telling of Fifty Shades Of Grey from Christian’s point of view, instead of Anastasia.

Given that that idea was her intention with Midnight Sun (not to mention that many already view Fifty Shades as a Twilight rip-off), Meyer confessed, “It was a literal flip the table moment for me.” Now, unfortunately for fans, she’s re-committed to NOT finishing the “cursed” project.

Meyer’s comments came during a Comic-Con panel about Life and Death, the new Twilight story that swaps the genders of the lead characters. As Gossip Cop reported, that was released earlier this week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the novel’s original publishing.  What do you think of Meyer deciding not to finish Midnight Sun because of Grey?

Took a quick peek  8) read the foreword up to page 26...except for Charlie and Renee, no other names have been mentioned yet. However, she/he/it has blue eyes as i just passed the point how he/she looked more like Renee...oh well, will pass on this first as i hate that my brain is actively trying to recall what was in the original. It is exhausting. I never did that for all the fanfics i read. Maybe i am still bitter this was not Midnight Sun....will put it off for a while... loopy, let us know how it goes for you!
I managed to start it last night as I got (very) distracted the night before.  ;) :P
I'm only a few chapters in as I keep putting it down and I'm finding it hard to pick back up again.  :(
But I'm reading it like Ella said she would - like a fic rather than an OF and I think that's working for me.  ???

On a side note, I went shopping yesterday and managed to get the hard cover version for £4.50 (US$ 6.90) which is half the price of the ebook, I'm sure the supermarket marked it the wrong price but I'm not complaining though.  :P

This is quite disheartening. I read the article earlier, for another gossip page. I suppose if I was in Meyers position I would be feeling similar.  :'(
Perhaps eventually, when the series is long old, she might release it.
