  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Wow....I cannot believe with all the issues I had with DIA, that I zoomed through Voyager without any issues.

I'm 20 % into Dragonfly In Amber and it drags a little at the moment. But well...8 huge books...it has to drag for parts!  :P

Good luck with this one. The beginning 1/3 was ok, the end 1/3 was really good....the middle......was torture for me. Stopped 5 times. Swore it was my first DNF and deleted the book off my ipad. lol

I'm up to chapter 22 of Outlander and I'm enjoying it much more, I think I was just not in the right mindset to read it when I started. My friend said that I'm passed the place in the book where the TV series is up to so far so I may start watching them now, just to see how they compare. She's keen as for the second half of series 1 to air, won't shut up about it now she knows I'm reading the damn books. haha.

Annnnd another is sucked right in.

So my UK friends......watched any of the shows yet?

A heads up to anyone trying to log into Twilighted - right now the main problem seems to be the Forums - the site keeps kicking people out.   If you are registered on Twilighted (rdmickey I'm looking at you) for the forums, do CharReader and I a favor and go try to log in and when it kicks you out, contact the administrators (Edward and psymom) and tell them there is a problem.  If enough people complain, she might get on it and fix the problem and actually believe there is a problem.   Thank you veddy much.

That was a fast fix.  I am now logged in and its not kicking me out - its also now reading me on the board as registered and not hidden which its been doing for the past 3 days.  The numbers beside the fic categories also straightened out - they'd gone all screwy while the log-in problem existed but the numbers have gone back to normal and the new fic by New Twilight Fan under AU-Human is back up - it disappeared briefly.  Mars must be in retrograde.

Excerpt From: Belle, Anna. “Forgetting Him.” iBooks.
This is the gem I just started to read. Outlander is becoming more attractive by the minute.
I did cheat and watched the first season. It's really good. Now I've got 2 historical dramas I'm following...this and GoT...
Any good recs? I also read Manwhore and I am pissed.....cliffhanger and there was no warning.

Its not like the following information is a really big surprise - this info comes from Zap2it:

Director Sam Taylor-Johnson exits 'Fifty Shades of Grey' sequels

By Sarah Huggins

Mar 26th, 2015

"Directing 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful," Taylor-Johnson says in a statement. "I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with [stars] Dakota [Johnson] and Jamie [Dornan]. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three."

Missing from Taylor-Johnson's statement is any mention of "Fifty Shades" author E.L. James. Many suspected the director would not be returning to direct "Fifty Shades Darker," as she has been outspoken about her creative differences with James over the material.

"We'd often clash and have to find a way to work through that to get to some sort of resolution," Taylor-Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter of making the first film with James. "She would be the first to say as well that it was not easy. It was not easy. But we got there. I think both of us felt it was an incredibly painful process."

Despite those differences, "Fifty Shades of Grey" has been a huge hit, with a worldwide box-office take of more than $550 million so far.

So now the hunt is on for a new director for the sequel. Dornan and Johnson are committed to reprising their roles as the wealthy Christian Grey and the reserved Anastasia Steele.

No release date has been set for the second film at this time.

GemAB - I hate it when an author does that - leaves a story half finished on Twilighted and finished it somewhere else.  Its so annoying.   You don't know whether it was just plain left unfinished everywhere or whether you have to go look for it on another site and find out if they have a completed copy.  Life is too short some days.

I was mainly following stories on twilighted, and then I'd hear they were already completed and sometimes pulled from ffn, I now check ffn first. I think the whole authorization (is that what it's called? I don't know) in twilighted is what killed that site, it takes them forever to authorize a chapter,  heard a lot of authors complaining about that and eventually stop updating there.

I also heard that you have to use their betas for your story.

I'm reading A Matter of Trust by quietruby with actor Edward, but you've probably already read that one 100 times.

Oooohhh, an actorward! Now i have Parachute  and A Matter of Trust queued as my next read.  >:D
Thanks again lovely Ella for your Google Drive and FFG for rec'ing aMoT!  :-*

I realize that i tend to read slow or delay reading when i get tired of a book. Being a serial reader has its drawbacks. As i can't flounce or stop and read a new one without finishing the book am reading, it seems to be taking forever to finish this last book in the Blackstone series by Raine Miller. I do like the characters and her writing but... I just.... Sigh.... arrrghh... do you guys ever get that feeling that you want to be interested but can't seem to bring up the enthusiasm to continue?  :( frustrating! So am falling behind my Goodreads challenge  ;D

I was going to start Manwhore last week but still not got around to it, I knew it was a cliffy as I asked Katy herself if she was gonna leave us hanging knowing that the next book in the series is out in July. She said it was but that's why she's not leaving too long between books.
I love a good cliffy but not one where you have to wait years between books.  >:( >:(

Not surprised at all and can't really blame Sam as she has made it clear that her EL never really got along to start with.
Thought it is a shame that she won't be behind the next 2 films though.   :(

Totally hun, I felt that way with quite a few series. That's why I'm always glad to be reading 4 or 5 different books/fics at the same time.

I'm actually doing quite well with my challenge apparently I'm 16 books ahead of schedule, maybe I should up my final number of books.  ;D ;D

If the Blackstone series by Raine Miller is the one I'm thinking of, I was not particularly impressed with that one.  It irritated me the whole time I was reading it.  Although not as much as the This Man series, which made me mad at the author, as well as the characters.  I hate it when that happens.

This happens to me a lot when I get to a slow section in a story/book, or where there are too many lemons. I find myself putting the book down and surfing the net or playing games on my phone rather than reading more.

Is it weird I find lemons boring after the first one?  I think we've had this discussion before LOL!

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Speaking of cliffhangers, I was reading the reviews on a free mystery book on Amazon. I guess the author left it hanging on the free book, there's a second paid book and it has a cliffhanger too. The reviews were nasty because there is no indication how many more books are needed to finish the story and she hasn't written them all.

I have to agree with the reviews.  It's bad enough to leave with a cliffhanger, but then not to know how many books you have to buy to get the full story. It's like reading an abandoned WIP.   >:(

I give up!  Still can't get on the Twilighted Forums - The index says I am online, but I can't access anything. I have tried from 3 different browsers.  Don't know what's up with them. Hopefully they figure it out soon before no one cares anymore.
