I flounced EP out of boredom. Or maybe it was annoyance. A doctor in the mob. There are illegal drugs and alcohol in the basement that the kids think is okay to bring out for parties. Bella is a slave, yet still a virgin?

None of it makes much sense to me. And I didn't like the characters much.

I do however have an okay version that was originally a doc that I converted to mobi. Pretty much all the PDFs wouldn't convert. So I know what you mean.

Sounds like a mess.  I hope that all got resolved somehow in the fic and certainly got cleaned up in the published version. Emancipation Proclamation is routinely mentioned in people's top 3 fics, so I've been curious, but it's also been criticized about the length of it all. *sigh*

I've been cruious about the published book, Sempre, and the sequel, Sempre Redemption, but honestly now I'm even more hesitant.

I don't see LyricalKris on the list, so how do you find the fics? I tried the "search" tool but it didn't really help, and google is making me want to throw my laptop against the wall and burn it!  8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

You really have to SCROLL, lol. LyricalKris is actually on page 2 of that thread reply #27, bottom of the post.

Given that it's alphabetical, in addition to the above, in general, you can use your browser's find function on a specfic web page.  The search function here also works well enough, but you need to do some digging.

I am considering downloading Emancipation Proclamation by Kharizzmatik, still not sure I will read it, but while I am doing a major update of my calibre library, I am considering it.  I avoided it for a while and I can't remember why, is there a reason to continue avoiding it (other than the length) like the Perfect Wife reason (haven't read that, thanks to this forum telling me what it is about)?  Also are all the outtakes worth it?  Or should I just get the published version?  Thanks.

Sidenote - I just figured out/got the plugin to deDRM the free kindle books I have so now I can put them on my kobo too finally, made me very happy.  (Only 2 books, but enjoying the feeling of accomplishment)

Every single copy of Emancipation Proclamation I've downloaded seems like it had some glitch to the original copy, because words are spaced out, random numbers are thrown in and the grammar is off. Sometimes Isabella is spelled, Isabella, then in the next sentence it's Isabela.

I think I'd probably go with the published version of this story, just hoping that the author did some heavy editing. That's wishful thinking on my part though. EP, is one of the few "big" Twifics that I was never able to get in to. I think the plot is interesting, but from what I've read it seemed like the execution was very juvenile, not to mention how awkward the writing is. It shifts from Third to First person POV and the dialogue made me cringe.

Does anyone know anything about the author? Are they younger? The heavy subject matter seems like something a teenager would romanticize and write about: a human trafficking love story.

Edit: now you've got me reading through my copy and completely forgot how quickly this story sends me into a rage. Constant contradictions! Earlier in the story Isabella asks Carlisle why he bought a slave instead of hiring a maid or cook, and he tells her that he's SOOOOO involved with organize crime that he can't have any people hired that could be potential witnesses to his crimes. So obviously he has to have a slave to do his house work. Because being caught with a child you BOUGHT doesn't carry a heavy fine?

Then this
....... Too paranoid to have people on your payroll, but pretends to sympathize with child labor laws. I can't.

Then I read EP (no obvious errors that I can remember) I preferred EP, but, if you can't read Perfect Wife because of the subject matter then EP won't be for you either. The story clarified how it came to be that Carlisle was a doctor and in the mob (though I can't remember it that was made clear in Sempre or EP) but organised crime has all sorts in its midst, doctors, lawyers, priests (!) It was also clarified why Bella wasn't 'tampered' with,

. I didn't come away from the story feeling unsatisfied with the plot or storyline because of inconsistencies and yes, the FF is pretty darn long but compared to some of the fics I've read since? It's worth the effort.

And? There may not be recent stories that are still available on the web. We try not to fill the server with available stuff.  ;)

Well we do like to confuse newbies.  :D :D :D

Not really.  I figured we were talking about Lyricalkris and HTMAM at the same time so it's easy to get confused.  It's just if you were looking for a LyricalKris story it might not be there. ;)

I think I read about half of EP before I set it aside. It was just a looooong drawn out fic, with a lot of repetition. I always planned to go and read Sempre, I just haven't done so yet. One day. Right now I'm still stuck on Teen Wolf fic.

I'm reading For The Summer and am completely giddy over it!!  I feel like it's everything I like about a story all rolled up into one yummy package.    I'm at the summer that he just turned 16.   I'm glad this is a long fic so it won't be over too soon. :)  Can't remember who recommended this one first but I sure am glad you did!

I read it as Sempre and REALLY liked it...  from what I've heard about the Perfect Wife, I think Sempre is much tamer.      I still haven't read Sempre Redemption.    I think the fic covers both Sempre and Sempre Redemption, right?    I really need to start that second book.

For The Summer is so good. I come back to it every year, after the details have grown fuzzy and it's like reading a new story all over again. If camoozle ever decided to pull and publish, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and it would have a special place on my bookshelf. When I read it for the first time, I was so pleased to see a Bella that obviously adored Edward, but wasn't completely enamored with him to the point where she couldn't function without him. The way they come together every summer, and then life goes on for the rest of the year. They both had something to look forward to for the duration of the year. Of course it took place before cell phones and Facebook, which made long distance friendships even harder.

Welcome back Peonie!  And you're English is great! :)
So, is this one still a romance? even with depressed edward? LOL   And who is he married to?   (I'm an ExB girl, remember?)
Did you read Losing Hope immediately after reading Hopeless?   I read it much later and I think that made me enjoy Losing Hope all the more because I liked that some of it was repetitive as it reminded me of how much I loved their story.    I thought it was a great followup book.       And I enjoyed Finding Cinderella...    I didn't like it as much as Hopeless/FH, but I thought it was worth the read.  Kinda neat how it fit into the first books.     Speaking of Hoover, have you read the Slammed series yet?

Is For The Summer a schmexy fic? or is it mild on the lemons?
I think you've recommended Maggie Stiefvater to me before... I just moved her book, Shiver, up higher on my TBR list.  Glad to know you liked FTS too...  Looking forward to reading that one.  Sounds like my kinda thing!

Hahaha, I just wanted to point out the heavy UST in FTS, but then I saw you started to read already! Great choice! I devoured every word and it was the first fic after a long time where I didn't mind the length.
And I actually squealed and fangirled over the EPOV outtakes a few days ago. But I too think you should wait until you finished FTS until you read the EPOV outtakes. Makes the experience all the better.

I think you're right with the Hopeless series. I should have waited with reading Losing Hope. I read it immediately after Hopeless and I guess that did take away from enjoying it as much as Hopeless. I like it nonetheless to be in Holder's mind, but I skimmed a lot of the dialogue, because I still remembered from Hopeless.
I'm reading Finding Cinderella now and really like it. I doesn't add much to Hopeless and Losing Hope, but it's really a great addition. More funny than serious imho. And not too long.

After that I can finally finally start Pressed For Time!  :D I'm a little OCD with finishing series at the moment. I have to tie loose ends it seems.  :-[ There are a few series which I started and never caught up or finished and this is bothering me a lot atm.

I have not read the Slammed series yet and I'm not sure if I'm ready to start another series. See above.  ;D

I've gotta say that anyone who doesn't wanna read the fic but is still interested in reading the books do it.
The books have the exact same story as the fic but even with both the books combined they only come to about 600 pages so less than 1/2 the fic's length.  :)
With the heavy editng that's been done, there isn't the repetitiveness which happened in the fic either.  :)  :-*
