there was a writer that posted about 40 stories in a 3 week period. Some writers discovered she was paraphrasing their stories and reported her. She stated she got the ideas from them but it was all her original work and refused to remove them and reported the authors for harassment. FFnet suspended the author's account without checking it out. And the plagiarizer sent nasty pm's to anyone who said anything to her about copying stories. There was more. So the harrasser continued to copy and harrass and the legit writers get punished. It's been going on for almost 3 months and FFnet wouldn't remove the stories. Though they all disappeared today after a petition was sent to them. So they pull stories with no notice for having sex in them, but take three months to remove plagiarized stories.
Why am I not even slightly surprised? I recently reported someone for plagiarizing, I let the original author know through a PM since I know how nasty things can get on that site. In that case, the story was gone very quickly, but I don't know who removed it.
You'd think with all the complaints about ff.net that they'd get the message that they have a problem. Obviously not. If they continue along this path, they'll be boycotted by a significant amount of at least Twilight fans and maybe a few more people will come back to Twilighted instead of fleeing to ff.net because its so great. One can dream. A large percentage of the fic forums on Twilighted are all on fics that are on ff.net and not on Twilighted. That always seemed a little unfair to me but then I'm prejudiced in the favor of Twilighted.
Actually, this whole thing kind of surprised me because usually FFnet is good about removing plagiarized stories. Maybe it's because they weren't exact replicas. Since the original writer didn't write stuff I read -mostly True Blood - I wouldn't know. But I do know that 40 multi-chapter stories going up in such a short time is very questionable. But they do allow the crazies now with anonymous reviews. But then, I am never sure how bad these reviews are because I hear authors complain and delete before they can be seen. On another subject, my phone updated today and suddenly singular I's are not being automatically capitalized. Grrrr.
This is completely unreal! Personally I favor TWCS over FFnet. I don't know who is in charge over there at FFnet but they clearly need a reality check! I try to stay away from FFnet, but I have to admit that it is hard because there are some stories on there that aren't anywhere else.
I've decided I prefer AO3 over them all. It seems most of the Teen Wolf people post there, they have different themes, and I can DL right to my tablet when it's a longer story and I want to be able to make the font bigger without distorting the page. Plus, I love their sorting options and tags. Plus, if they pull for content, I've never heard about it, and I've seen some FREAKY stuff on there!Does anyone know of anything bad about AO3 I might should know?
The only bad thing i ever heard about AO3 was that they weren't allowing authors on fast enough. There were some issues with the filters not working but I think they fixed that. Also, because it was so hard to join, you couldn't sign up to get notifications. All little things I believe they fixed.
Did they fix that? Because I remember 'joining' ages ago and I never heard squat back, no verification email, no alerts, nada! I've not gone on the site in ages that I doubt I can even remember my login details....
I've never heard of AO3. I don't like Twilighted very much because it wants me to log in every time I click a link. I do like TWCS. I like the women who started it and wish they would finish their stories. Lol. I know they are busy. I must be honest though, I spend most time one here because there is alway a finished older fic I may have missed. I also feel that there aren't too many great fics that are wip, I haven't had one that made me hold my breath when I see the update email in a long time.
I read Knight and liked it ok, but wasn't crazy about it. Isn't that the one where she calls him "daddy"? LOL Demaris, have you read any of Kristen Ashley's Fantasyland series? You watched Game of Thrones, right? If so and you liked the Khal Drogo storyline you REALLY need to read the Golden Dynasty (book 2 of the Fantasyland series). You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login It is straight up Game of Thrones fan fiction! ;-) I liked GD, but my favorite so far from the series was #1, Wildest Dreams. I thought the book was a great escape! Her writing style takes a bit to get used to with all the clothing descriptions etc, but I can look over that stuff since these stories are so much fun to read.
I've always heard the MI series takes quite a bit from her Draco Dormiens series, and that Jace was essentially her version of Draco. I've never read either one, because of all the stuff about Clare AND I prefer my fics to have a Harry/Draco romance, and I believe they are just friends in the fic. The movie kinda sucked though, from what I watched of it. From what I hear, the movie left out too much, and that a person who hadn't read the books might be a bit lost. You are not allowed to view links. Register or LoginYou are not allowed to view links. Well, i just got an alert this morning from Nolbucgrl's story on FFnet, Fictionpad, and AO3. All worked.
Just started The Fall Away series by Penelope Douglas, I'm only on chapter 8 of Bully and I'm not too impressed by it so far. It's another predictable read so far I reckon the reason behind the bullying is because of Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents. if this is the case I will eat my hat. Has anyone read this series, if you have please tell me it gets better. I finally read the final chapter of Wisp, it was definitely bitter sweet as I didn't want it to end but glad it did. I thought the ending was kinda perfect for it. I bit like Dusty, if it ended any other way it would of just been wrong.
No. Thank. You. I'm not reading any more of her stories after the Unfinished Hero series. I don't really like her writing, I HATED Rock Chick, seriously gave me a head-ache, I remember she described every article of clothes down to the stitches in their socks in that one and she does the same in Unfinished, including the colour of their pedicured nails! Her witticisms aren't witty and if I read the phrase 'bottom of my soul" once more it'll be time for a new lappy.. What she does very well is sex scene but again, as we all know, after a while lemons get....well, boring, without something else to cement the story together.
Well, i just got an alert this morning from Nolbucgrl's story on FFnet, Fictionpad, and AO3. All worked. FFnet was the only one that took me right to the new chapter though. The other two took me to the story page and I had to figure out how to get to the newest chapter. I also haven't figured out the review system on the other two. And I like to review updates when I can.
I read Bully and didn't like it but most of my reading buddies did. I thought it was just blah with a few nice moments thrown in there. The description of Wisp has not pulled me in at all! Is this one everybody is saying is a must read? I didn't like Rock Chick either... And just thought Knight was OK. (those are not my preferred genre) I felt like her fantasyland series was just so much better. Did I read something about her getting picked up by a different publisher or something and then cutting out a lot of her excess descriptions or did I make that up in my head?
