Twilight Saga To Continue With Short Film Contest Judged By Kristen Stewart
Twilight Short Film Contest
Truth rating: 10

Kristen Stewart Stephenie Meyer Twilight

By Shari Weiss | 9:59 pm, September 30th, 2014

Twilight Short Film Contest
(Summit/Lionsgate)

The Twilight Saga is continuing — but not in the way most probably expected.

On Tuesday, Stephenie Meyer announced that the characters of her book-and-movie franchise will be the subjects of a new short film series created by aspiring female filmmakers.

“The Storytellers – New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga,” a partnership between Meyer, Lionsgate, Women in Film, Facebook, and the crowdsourcing platform Tongal, will consist of a “multiphase contest” in which at least five directors are chosen to create films.

The shorts will be “based on a broad spectrum of characters from the Twilight universe, with guidance provided by Meyer’s encyclopedic The Twilight Saga: Official Illustrated Guide.”

The development process will be assisted by celebrity mentors, and include chances for engagement with fans through social media.

A panel — slated to include Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer and more notable names — will select the winning projects, which will get to premiere on Facebook next year.

Fans will ultimately get to choose the top winner, who will receive “a cash prize and career opportunities.”

Meyer says in a statement, “The female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I’ve worked in the film industry. I’m honored to be working with Women In Film, Lionsgate, and Facebook on a project dedicated to giving more women a chance to be heard creatively.”

What do you think of Twilight continuing through short films?

It may have better acting and directing. Looking back some of the characters seemed like they no personality and felt very flat. I'm sure that was probably more due to the directing than the actors.

Yeah that's the one. If I remember right it's not a bad read.
Yeah the story was good but I got the distinct impression that the author didn't actually like women with 'curves'? Some of the phraseology was just off.....

You can click on the spoiler. It really doesn't spoil anything.  The story is good. You might actually like it, but I can't remember how you feel about SPaGs. Because they are everywhere.  It's not too fluffy. But I wouldn't call it angst either. ;)

I am ashamed to say that after encountering it so often in Twifics I seem not to notice it so much any more!  :D :D :D

Or they could make our favorite fanfic into a short movie?

I haven't read too many post breaking dawn stories, or back stories for any of the characters, but maybe there should be a fanfic script contest?

I've decided to re-read RWHC and you're right hun, it's a good fic but you can just tell the author just doesn't get bigger sized women.  ::) ::)
I actually feel like I saying to her "Welcome to the real world honey, we ain't all a size zero some of us like to eat.
Fancy a burger?"  :D

You've taken the words right out of mouth about the whole short film thing. Anyone have a rusty spoon so I can scoop out my eye?  :P :P

Hi! I was wondering if any one knows if the book named 'The Apartment' by Amanda Black was a P2P? If so do you know where I could find it, please?  :)

Oh sure, I'd do him anywhere...a wall, a broom cupboard, a bus shelter but having a flat surface (vertical or horizontal) mean he wouldn't have to shoulder all my weight (though it isn't much...) he'd be able to use said surface to press me up against or down upon......
