Totally forgot that the hardware store was a sporting goods store , you would of thought after such a major change I would remember this.
I read FSOG but not MoTU as it was the former that brought m to five in the first place.....I don't think I'm going to bother with MoTU now, too much water under the bridge. Loops, I'm not sure I'm strong enough to re-live Dusty again. I've been busy so I've not had a chance to read much and he's only 13 at the moment.....God! I'm not sure I can do it!
I know, really! How could you confuse the two LOL! Well, the original would be a sporting goods store on to keep with canon. But frankly? I can't see Bella working at either.
Hmmmm ok I am definately going to move it up. Now, Ella i have a Calibre question for you. My calibre portabe stopped working so i had to download another one and add my library, but I lost my settings and the column for the summary/description is not there anymore.. how do i add it? I cant seem to figure it out. also will i have to reload it all or can i just update the epub for that column to show
Seriously Hun if you've read one you've read both so I wouldn't worry about it.
I would agree with this. They really are the same.
Which makes me laugh when those completely against Twilight, and think FF is lame, argue that FSoG & MOTU are two separate stories! I think it would blow people's minds if they knew how many books were actually FF stories first before being published.
I'm laughing with you. Over on InDeath.net, it drives us crazy when we tell a member (particularly people that hate Twilight) that FSoG is the published version of the fanfic MoTU and the response is "I don't see any resemblance to Twilight". We had a huge argument with them in the FSoG thread (that originally started out as 3 different but related threads and we finally combined them). What don't you get people? It was a Twilight fic originally - all she did was change the names and publish it. One of our Polish members just read Wallbanger and I mentioned that it was originally a Twilight fanfic Edward Wallbanger - she had also read FSoG. She still doesn't get the difference. One other person responded to her reply that she didn't like the trend of Twilight fics being published as original fiction. We ended up giving up. Even when you point out all the similarities (character wise or otherwise) to MoTU/FSoG, they stubbornly insist that we are overreacting and wrong. One of our troublemakers (no longer on site) had evidently not read the whole FSoG thread because she made the mistake of being indignant and responding that Nora (Roberts) should sue E.L. James because she so obviously ripped off Nora on the InDeath series. I simply said "Why should Nora sue? It was originally a Twilight fanfic. If anyone should sue it should be Stephanie Meyer. Why don't you go back and read the whole thread." The response I got back was a meek "Okay". This also happened to be the member who invented a whole bunch of "socks" to do reviews for her InDeath fanfic and to defend her on the forum when we disagreed with her - one of her "supporters" would appear and start accusing us of being mean to jlk.
Forget about MoTU; when I read FSOG I knew absolutely nothing about Fanfiction, nada! And I read that story and thought someone is trying to plagiarise SM's Twilight, the plot might be different but the characterisation is EXACTLY the same, not similar, identical. So even if you've never read a single Twific but have read twilight you'd have to ask yourself, 'WTF?' Anyone who says differently clearly have never read Twilight. I was seriously getting ready to report E L James for theft; I powered up my computer, stuck the title into Google, and the rest, as they say, is history
I am so not a connoisseur of books, characterization etc. As long as i enjoyed the story, that's good enough for me. I guess because i read so many books that have similar plots or storylines, i don't really think much beyond "that was a really good book/writer" or "meh".
I don't understand some people. Why make a big deal about fanfics if the owner of the real book didn't take legal actions? The pulled to pub fanfics mentioned are so different from Twilight and can't really be called plagiarism. At this point, if the fanfic becomes published, the only issue should be whether it is worth our money to buy it. And that issue applies to ALL published books. Who cares if it was a fanfic first, as long as it is a good story that brings reading pleasure to people. Now, it is a different story when these fanfic writers have the gall to threaten people for sharing copies of their fanfic when they decided to publish. Such morons! You gave it away for free! On the internet! Live with it!
I bolded the part that means the most to me. Why in the hell would I pay money for something if they only changed the names and locations? I can read the same thing here, for free. If they put in the effort and actually EDIT the thing, then I'm more willing to shell out the dough, IF enough people that I trust let me know there have been significant improvements. Unfortunately, that very rarely happens, usually it's just a basic name and location change.
See? Now here is the dilemma. I'm sitting reading published Dusty, it is pretty much the same as the FF, it's been edited, because the FF is hella long but it is, so far, very much the same story...If I were to ask myself why I went ahead and bought these books, when I'd already read the FF, which I never do, if I've read the FF first, the reply wouldn't make a great deal of sense. It'll have nothing to do with whether it was well edited (there are still a few typos I'm afraid) or changed significantly, nothing to do with story, location or characters and everything to do with the way FF Dusty changed, for better or worse, the way I looked and felt about Twifics, Twilight Fan Fiction has never really been the same since the day I finished that story, the first time.....Its just a fact, I live with it. I still read FF, as I'm a junkie, but, if I'm honest, I'm over it. I spent the money and bought these book as an acknowledgement to the authors of that change, for all their hard work, their talent, and their perseverance, (I'm sure more fics are abandoned than completed on FFN). Positive reviews are amazing but I'm sure kerching is better. Its the least I could do give back to them and show my appreciation, it's personal.
I haven't read it yet, but I did pick up the pubbed version of Clipped Wings Inked Armor based on how much I loved the fic. I'm sure I'll read it eventually, but right now, I'm still pretty hard core into Sterek fics, plus I'm reading a LONG ass Harry Potter fic, lol.
I've been trying to figure out what "Sterek" is, I've failed. How's the HP one? I've yet to venture into HP fics... I have the HP/Twilight cross over someone rec'd to me, but nothing else.
Who cares if it was a fanfic first, as long as it is a good story that brings reading pleasure to people.
OK, so book 3 is literally white noise, its a 'nothing' book. Contrived angst, (Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents., empty plot points (Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.and both characters are now just annoying, JH has turned into such a needy f*ck it's a huge turn off and way, way, way, way too many lemons. I'd go so far as to say that every sentence wrote that is not a lemon is written to lead the reader from one lemon to another. 2** ( and I'm being generous)
Kim do remember when King called it Dizzy? We had a great laugh at her expense about that, well I've been winding her up again about it as she was asking about Dusty [/b]
