See? Now here is the dilemma. I'm sitting reading published Dusty, it is pretty much the same as the FF, it's been edited, because the FF is hella long but it is, so far, very much the same story...If I were to ask myself why I went ahead and bought these books, when I'd already read the FF, (something I never do, if I've read the FF first), the reply wouldn't make a great deal of sense. It'll have nothing to do with whether it was well edited (there are still a few typos I'm afraid) or changed significantly, nothing to do with story, location or characters and everything to do with the way FF Dusty changed, for better or worse, the way I looked and felt about Twifics, Twilight Fan Fiction has never really been the same since the day I finished that story, the first time.....Its just a fact, I live with it. I still read FF, as I'm a junkie, but, if I'm being totally honest, I'm over it. I spent the money and bought these book as an acknowledgement to the authors of that change, for all their hard work, their talent, and their perseverance, (I'm sure more fics are abandoned than completed on FFN). Positive reviews are amazing but I'm sure kerching is better. Its the least I could do give back to them to show my appreciation; it's personal.
So, did you finish Dusty yet? I haven't started it yet because I'm only at the 50% mark in aDoW... speaking of, I floooove this book! I mean flooove. I haven't liked one this much in a good while it seems! I'm so glad you guys convinced me to read it! And I'm so glad that it's so long!About buying the Dusty books... I feel exactly the same way as what you posted above... The fic was amazing and even though there aren't many differences in the published version I gladly gave them my money. I'm hoping that it takes off like some of the other popular published fics did! I'm recommending it to all my reader friends... well, that is unless they have kids in high school and then I'm telling them to wait a while before reading it. LOL
I bolded the part that means the most to me. Why in the hell would I pay money for something if they only changed the names and locations? I can read the same thing here, for free. If they put in the effort and actually EDIT the thing, then I'm more willing to shell out the dough, IF enough people that I trust let me know there have been significant improvements. Unfortunately, that very rarely happens, usually it's just a basic name and location change.
I read some fanfics that were original fiction first, but the author changed them to twilight fanfic in order to get a bigger audience (only there were a few names she forgot to change, which was confusing at first) but I still enjoyed reading them.
I have not! I'm not sure why it takes me that bit longer to read Yellowglue's stuff but it always does....her sentence structure takes work, it is not unusual for me to have to read a sentence twice to get the gist....but I'm loving it, Dusty is just....the best; still tugs at my heart and leaves a heavy weight in my stomach...shoot, in the dictionary under the word angst there should just have the word Dusty as its explanation, I'd completely forgotten what real angst reads like...ADoW has got to be one of the best series of books I've read this year, hands down. Glad you're loving it Kimmy.
You know addicted to PTS when the first thing you think is I've so gotta tell my lovelies on there about this, as it'll probably make them laugh. This is what I was like this weekend while I was away. Me and the hubby were up country as the hubby was asked to talk at a convention.Anyhoo, the hubby gave me the job to tell the receptionist when leaving that we had "noticed" several stains on the carpet in the hallway of the floor we were staying on.I can't lie to save my life and it turns out that when the hubby is watching me try to lie I'm even worse. He was just standing there laughing so much I thought he was gonna choke or p*ss himself. After we left the hubby turned to me and said "I seriously thought you were gonna use your "go-to" lie of blaming it on a badger or a squirrel!" So it turns out that we can't go anywhere without trying to wreck the place and trying to get away with it. Hope everyone has had/having a good weekend.
I'm sure the security guards enjoyed the camera feed from that hallway!
I feel sorry for them if they decided to watch us as I'm sure they would of got bored after about 30 minutes of us carrying out our shenanigans.
I'm surprised that you've not finished yet but I totally understand why. I've gotta re-read some sentences/paragraph a couple times just to get the gist. There was a little something that did disappointment a little bit about Delinquents: Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.I agree with you hun about the Dusty being in the dictionary's description for angst but I reckon that TPW has gotta share that title in the dictionary as well.
So I've stepped back in time and read an older ff called A Little Crazy by lolashoes and tby789. It's not very long, but it's sweet and well-written. And Demaris, Edward has a PA. Some time ago, someone was looking for a doctors without borders type story. I don't remember who it was, but this story would fit within that category. Not on ffn, but in the Index.
One word. Matthew! *drool*
But I still enjoyed it, it'll never replace the original in my heart, but I'm glad I bought it and read it.
As long as you weren't bored. That's the important part.
I've finished! Sorry not been able to get online as much, this would be the weekend where PA decides he wanted us to go down and check on his house by to the coast, wouldn't ?! Storm damage, whatever! Inconsiderate so and so! Anyway I chased him off to visit some friends and sat down to the business of Dusty. Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents. But I enjoyed it and I cried like a baby (again) now though I'm back in that Dusty bubble which I worked so hard to get out of last time; for fook sake! The published version will never replace the original in my heart, but I'm glad I bought it and read it. I'm going to read this next, thanks FFG I'm in the mood for some Twifics after Dusty reminiscing.

I think I'll be reading Dusty after I finish the All Souls Trilogy... it will make for a nice change of pace. Did I mention how glad I am that these books are so lengthy! Good stuff!
