Grey-speak for putting on a condom. He makes it sound like such a process, as if he’s shrink-wrapping it so he can put it into storage.

Have any of you read Jay Crownover’s work? She was rec’d at the Rock Chicks FB group  . Am reading Rule right now. You know that feeling the writing is ok but then she misuses words (phonetically you know what she wanted to use) or misspells? Yeah, it is seriously turning me off now. I would understand this of a fanfic writer. But this is a published book which you would at the minimum expect it to be proofread before bring released to be sold.

Ella, I've been thinking about you the last few days watching the news about fires in California.  I hope all is well with you.  2amlovesick's area got it during the summer.  I'm assuming you're safe since you've posted, but let us know you're really okay.

 Though I had to drive into LA for work on Wednesday and the smoke was bad in spots. I felt bad for all those who have lost their homes in the fires. I used to live in Santa Rosa, not far from the area that burned.  So scary. 

Yeah, I guess there's not much fuel for a fire in the desert.  Glad you're okay.

We also have the aquaduct between the mountains and us.  The last time the fire came our way over the mountains it stopped at the aquaduct.  It's like a big river. 

Though with the winds we get out here, it could be bad if it ever really started  to burn.

This video about this dying Polar Bear is breaking my heart.       
That great animal in that state maybe just days or hours of life left.

I saw this the other day. Heart-wrenching. The thing that really bugs me is that climate change is undoubtedly real, but there is a small pocket of pseudoscientists that question whether that climate change is anthropogenic (man made). Somehow that difference has gotten lost in a political debate. If we could simply address the consequences of climate change and ignore the cause for now, we'd have a starting point, so that we could save a species like the polar bear. The US Navy is quite concerned about the safety of our bases in certain coastal areas, like the Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, due to rising sea levels. If we could just pretend that it's a natural problem for a little bit and fix the problems, I'd be somewhat mollified.

The closest I think I have gotten where both are older is The Real Life of E.A. Masen where they are in their late 30's/early 40's I think?  Their oldest is just out of high school.  Funny story though.  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I've been trying out some of the newer fanfics. All are worthwhile. Most are quick reads.

Mafiaward set in the 1950s. Bella has a backbone, but still fits in the period. Edward is more of an advisor, so the fic is fairly light on violence for a mob fic. I found it fun.

This is an older fic that took me by surprise. A lot of psychological drama for Bella as she's in her twenties and hates herself for being attracted to a 17-year-old. Well written. Interesting mythos. Vamps, shifters, human.

And I reread this scifi favorite again. It's probably one of the least cannon twifics out there that still has all the cannon ships. I love it. I love the slow build between B&E in the way I enjoy In Your World, The Cannabean Betrothal and The Mail Order Bride.

Am I the only one who stops reading when the eye color is wrong?  I recently flounce three stories where Edward or Bella had the wrong color eyes. BornonHalloween was the most recent who made Edward's eyes blue or grey. The story was called Old School. Looked like it might be good,  but it wasn't Edward. Though it may have been Rob.

I enjoyed Moosals Rent-a-Vampire.  It was supposed to be funny but it was actually kind of sad. There is an HEA. Supernatural creatures have come out of the closet. Though Bella doesn't believe it, she goes to rent a vampire to bring as her date to an upcoming party, as everyone brings a supernatural date if they want to fit in. The Unexpected by MrsLMB. Bella went home with a hot guy only to find he was the same guy she was interviewing with the next day. Some awkward moments follow. The writer is from South Africa which becomes obvious when Edward goes to Johannesburg for a business trip like it is a few hours away.  Also October is almost summer and Edward wants to take Bella camping.  Other than that, not a bad story.   You are not allowed to view links.
