A kind friend from the fandom world shot me an email that directed me here. She thought maybe I'd like to respond. Because yeah, those who were in contact with me on a personal level while I wrote fic are still in contact with me now.  I've had an account on here for a long time, but only come on if I'm looking for a particular fic I can't seem to find elsewhere. Imagine that.

There seems to be a few questions floating around and some ... well, less than nice assumptions.

There's someone on this thread who follows me on Twitter, so frankly, she could have asked me herself what was going on with Witness, or why I'd pulled my stories, or even ... was there going to come a time when I would explain myself or put my stories back up. Would that have irked me? No. I'd have been happy to answer her in my @'s, or DM's.

First of all, Witness (and my other fanfics) came down after a particular PM came through to me on Fanfic(dot)net that was awful. And not, "oh, your story blows" kind of awful. No, a direct attack on me as a person because instead of writing for the fandom (which I made no money from, and took hours from my family to do so) I was trying to move ahead with my writing in a more professional way.

This person didn't just write a nasty PM that kind of bothered me ... no, the person's words hurt me. A lot. To the point where I cried, which was something I hadn't done because of a reader before. It made me wonder why I was continuing to struggle to write something for someone like that who had absolutely no idea what was going on behind the scenes in my real life. Sorry, I have emotions, too. Why do you think I write things like Witness, after all?

But, this PM from this crappy little person was just one in a string of messages and reviews that came through over the course of the months that I wasn't able to update for personal and professional reasons. Being told my writing was "like an abusive boyfriend" and "your original fic is sh*t, go back to what you do best" were a couple of the phrases that were thrown in there.

And why? Because I wasn't *writing* all that fanfic.

Let's be clear, though ... I didn't pull and stop writing just because of this. It was a big reason, but not the only one. At the point these messages started coming through, I had to make a choice. Continue trying to finish something my heart was no longer in, or get back to what was working best for me at the time. These few people who were coming at me in this way made me consider whether or not they were going to start seeding into my professional writing as well. I don't think any author wants trolls, I certainly didn't. I had to separate duskri123 from me as an author outside of the fandom. Writing is my relief--it is my own personal brand of medication. I couldn't let someone poison it for me. So, I didn't.

I'll answer a few more of the questions asked here.

I did not post up a note on my profile about where or how I could be found because like I said above, I didn't want those people following me. I needed to leave them behind, and yeah, it sucked something awful to feel like I was leaving a lot of great readers behind in the process.

I can't remember my passwords for sites like twiwrite and AO3, so whatever is there will stay there.

I don't have an author website. I have a blog, twitter, pinterest, amazon, and facebook page. A website seems really redundant right now, though I keep being told I need one.

I did mention while I was still writing fic about my original work in A/N's and such. My fanfic is entirely different from my original. I didn't expect to have hordes of followers come over with me to my original work because I wrote a little bit of Jasper/Bella fanfiction for a couple of years.

No, Witness is not being published as an original work. It never ever ever ever ever ever will be. I hope that's entirely clear there, but just for humor sake, EVER NEVER. I don't believe in pull to publish fic. Good on those authors who use the backbones of another author to get their work out there, but that's not me. I have a ton of characters in my head who are my very own. Right now, Witness is sitting in a folder in my documents of the computer that was broken a couple of months ago by my lovely son. I was two chapters ahead of what was posted and also had nearly 4k done of the Epilogue at the time I pulled the story. That's about all I'll say in that regard.

But for those who wonder, Witness ended the same way it started. That opening scene ... that was how it ended, too, only with Jasper coming to Thomas instead of Bella going to Jasper. 

For those who think my pulling without warning, or never leaving a note explaining myself is disrespectful to my fanfic readers or shows my contempt for them, keep in mind, fanfic was only my hobby. It was, though no one ever knew, a saving grace while I battled a 4 year non-stop war with PPD between the births of my 1st and 2nd sons. I did not write fanfic for the reviews or the attention, I wrote to be able to feel sane ... literally. That was all. It was a healthy outlet for me.

And frankly, writing still is.

Honestly, the loyal readers (as someone on here mentioned) from the fandom did follow me. They're still there with me. They've bought every book I published (both trad and self). My pre-readers from fanfic? Yeah, they're still pre-reading my original stuff, too. I appreciate and love them so much no one even knows because I couldn't adequately put into words what they mean to me. I can't explain how grateful I am to still have them as readers. Because they aren't just readers for me, they're friends. Also, they were the first people I messaged to say, "Hey, fair warning, my profile and the stories are coming down. I have files ready, do you want them?"

I'm sorry, I didn't think it was necessary for me to write out a long diatribe on my profile about why I pulled and exactly how it made me feel to do so. Because yeah, broke my heart. But it was what was best for me. It still is. And now, with a 5 yo, an almost 4yo, and a one and a half month son, writing professionally to support them is what is best. I won't return to fanfic.

Thank you for enjoying my work enough to still wonder and talk about it. Thank you for enjoying those characters and the story I just can't finish. Thank you for those things, really. I'm sorry if you feel cheated out of something I put a heck of a lot of work, time, effort, and thought into. Remember, though, it was never finished for me, either. In my head it is, but I wasn't able to get it out like it needed to be.

Thank you for posting your reasons. I will put my hand up as someone that was frustrated and I think that frustration stems from how much I loved that story.  What you just posted was more than I would have ever asked for and I'm grateful that you took the time to explain.  I can't use Twitter to save my life so any info to be gleaned from it is lost to me. I genuinely wish you well with your future writing and only hope that you can one day decide to finish Witness but I fully understand why you wouldn't.

Hi everyone! I can't for the life of me figure out these stories I read once upon a time and would love to read again! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Both are Peter/Bella fics.

1. Very vague, but...All I remember is Peter having a gland problem when he was human and really smelled and I think he doesn't have a scent as a vamp? His sister died in a fire and something to do with a train. I believe he lost at least one other sibling? There may have been his family visiting as angels? Possibly helping out during a battle?

I do remeber a story where Jasper is the heir to Hell and likes to go up to the human world and mess around. The end has a battle that involves the spirits of Bella's friends and family that were killed by Victoria helping Bella's and Jaspers side. I do remeber that Jasper turned Bella into a demon too. That's the only story I can think of with that story line and I can't even remember the title!
