Goal: be glad you have insomnia. :)

Do you suffer from insomnia?

If you do, you're not alone.

To 'cure' insomnia depends a lot on what's causing it.
If possible, try to only go to bed when you're really tired (you can't keep your eyes open, your chin is falling on your chest, etc. :)

If you're tired but can't sleep, you may be worried about something.  If you've done something wrong, your conscience may be bothering you.  If that's the case, I would recommend 'coming clean', owning up to what you've done, confessing to the person you've wronged, etc.  I know it isn't easy but I speak from experience when I say it will do you a world of good because there's nothing worse than having to carry around guilt on your shoulders.  (And people usually find out what you've done, eventually anyway, so you might as well come clean and try to make restitution/reparation.  We're all human and we've all done things we wish we hadn't.)

If that doesn't apply to you, it may just be you are a light sleeper.  I would recommend wearing ear plugs/ear muffs to bed.  (Also wait until you're real tired, if possible, before going to sleep as you'll sleep deeper if you're tired.)

I would also recommend sleeping in a darkened room, even if you have to wear night shades (patches to cover your eyes.)

Sleeping in a well-ventilated room, even if it's slightly cold, can also help - just put on an extra blanket. :)

How are your nasal passages?  Are they clear before going to bed?  When you lay down, cover one nostril and see if you have difficulty breathing out of one side or the other.  If so, there are over the counter 'tapes' that can open nasal passages.

Getting plenty of fresh air/exercise during the day can also help you to have a better sleep.  (So many of us are indoors, sitting down most of the day, etc.)

Don't be afraid to try out home remedies, as long as they're safe, in case you find some that work for you.

Everyone is an individual and what will work for one person may not work for another.  Feel free to try out different things until you find something that works for you.

And as a last resort, if nothing works, maybe just don't go to bed until you're tired.  It may not be practical if you have to go to school or work the next day, but if you just can't sleep, you might as well be doing something.  If possible, do something pleasant so at least you're enjoying yourself.  Hopefully it will leave you feeling less stressed.  And ultimately, that's the most important - that you not stress out over not being able to sleep.  Our goal should be: having so much fun that we don't want to go to sleep. :) Just plan on going to bed early tomorrow night if you're tired tomorrow, during the day.
