Hi Marianne,
now, I can't tell you for certain how many you need, because I honestly don't remember, but you gain ranks by posting. So, if you want to become a junior member, you need to post more.
Though, don't take this as an invitation to spam, just find some topics you're interested in, and offer your opinion, or start a topic if there isn't one already, about something you feel strongly about.

If Admin hasn't changed the setup, it works like this:

Newbie:  0 - 49 posts
Jr. Member: 50 - 99 posts
Full member: 100 - 199 posts
Sr. Member: over 200 posts
Hero Member: over 500 posts

He also promoted some users to Hero Members. Plus now, if you delete your posts you're not demoted anymore. That's why you'll see some people with high status that don't have so many posts ;)

I think the setup was changed, hon.
Marianne hit Jr. member with her 20th post, and I think Hero was around 200 posts now, if I'm not mistaken. :S

Jeez I guess I'm rusty about STP politics LOL :P
I collected this info when I just turned a Senior (it was around August 2011) and we were about to be promoted to Mods and a member asked me this very question ;)
Worry not. I probably wouldn't have noticed the change if I wasn't looking for it. :P

Jr Member: 20-49 (2 yellow boxes)
Full Member: 50-99 (3 yellow boxes)
Sr Member: 100-199 (4 yellow boxes)
Hero Member: 200+ (5 yellow boxes)
*Moderators have 5 green boxes and Admin has 5 red boxes.

The more active you are on the site, the higher your rank gets.

Thanks Jessadia, I was also wondering about this.
Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you did not do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
