Want some coffee? :D I'm new here
« on: May 25, 2012, 08:05 PM »
I got too excited. I can't believe my first post is a book request. Well, I wasnt really planning on posting anything. You know, I rather be a silent ghost secretly downloading pdf files. I'm nothing but a book worm and a musician. But hey, I love this site already. I wanna make a lot of friends who love books as much as I do. It's really nice to meet everyone.  :-*

Hello and welcome to STP :)
You will find that we are a very friendly and chatty community

Here is some information that will be of use to you:

The best way to look for a book on this website is to use the search bar in the top right hand corner.  Just put in the name of the book, the author, or both.  Be sure to choose "Entire Forum" in the drop down box next to the search bar.  If you can't find the book you're looking for, go the the General section (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) and start a new topic.  When requesting a book be sure to put REQ in your subject line (for request), and if possible, the name of the book and author.  This makes searches easier for every member.

If you ever have any questions, the easiest thing to do is to pm (private message) a moderator.  They'd be happy to help :)  They have green boxes under their username (instead of yellow).  The pm button looks like a little thought bubble.  It is on the left hand side, underneath any member's username.

Check out these links before posting:

Some authors have asked for us not to share their books on STP.  Please respect their wishes and check this list before posting/requesting-16052 books.

Stuck in pdf mode?

Click You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to find out why other formats are better

Most of us here use a free handy little program called Calibre to convert our files from one format to the other.  It's pretty easy to use, and you can sort your ebook library with it too.  This helps because instead of uploading every format of the book (and using a ton of server space in the process, which is not free!) we can just upload one format, and convert it ourselves.
Here's a link to download the program:

If you don't want to download a program, but still need files converted, you can go any of these free online converters:

Or you can just download these free programs to open the files.

Already have Adobe Reader?  why not download Adobe - Digital Editions to open epub files?  You can download it You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Also, some internet browsers have options to download add ons.  Firefox has an epub add on that you can download You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Kindle for PC will open mobi as well as azw files.  You can download the app You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login (you don't even need to have a Kindle!)
Mobipocket ebook Reader will also open mobi files.  You can download the app You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Microsoft Reader will open lit files.  You can download the app You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Hi jwlxlwj,
Welcome to the STP community!

Nice to meet you! I checked out your post. I did have to move it to the general section which is where requests and uploads belong and edited your subject line to make it easier on the searchers. The author was not on the opt out list so basically good job! You just have to get used to the forum and that comes with time.
Please read the following threads & hints. This works for all members but should help with with the basics:

Some tricks for searching: Use either the book, series or author. To bring up Advanced Search enter just 1 letter. Also putting "quotation marks" around the name, author or series will help narrow the search as well. Searching is tricky but do your best.

Do you see a thread you want to follow? Use the notify button. It will email you when something is posted in that thread!

Downloading a book? Please take a moment to click the Thank You button. It's the least you can do for the kind person who took the time & spent their money to upload it. :)

If you don't remember who to contact and you would like to get our attention, just start a post "Requesting Mr. Admin/Mod Help Please" and one of us will be along shortly. :13:
