My friends at work said it was really good, so I have it scheduled on my pvr for tonight as they are rerunning the first episode.  Looking forward to seeing it.

Thank you to blueeyes for the pvr.   :)

Since I read the book ages ago, I re-read the book before the 1st episode to refresh my memory...
of course, they cut out some things but you get the gist of what happened.

Also, some conversation is hard to follow or understand since they are speaking in Scottish and no translation is provided. ??? ???

Second episode is Sunday night at 10:00pm on Showcase (for me it's channel 76 from my cable provider). It's not commercial free so out of 1.5 hrs, we get a little over 1hr of Outlander.

My daughter and I have been raving about this since they announced it back in May or June... so my hubby got interested and he is now reading the paperback version of Outlander and he likes it very much. I have all 7 books in paperback or hardcover except for the last one ( I may buy when I find it at a reduced price).... they are KEEPERS.... ;D ;D

Good viewing... and let me know how you liked it...

Ciao,

Emy :)

We have watched 3 episodes so far and have loved every minute. Hubby has taken to his Kindle to re read all the books and is enjoying them again. It's a great series.

we are at the fourth episode... too bad that there is no translation of the gaelic speech that Colum gives at the gathering.

OOPPPSSS!!! I'm giving you info on what to expect.

I think there is no translation as we are meant to feel as excluded as Claire does    I think as she understands more  so will we

I agree, since everything is from her POV.  I went back to the book since I read it about 15 years ago.  I loved it again.  I'm enjoying the show.  While it's not slavish to the book, it is still very true to the spirit.  I noticed some dialogue is taken straight from the book.

So far, I'm very pleased that they are following the book as much as possible...

Did you see Diana Gabaldon in the fourth episode??  like for about 15 seconds!!!

That's the "in thing" to do.  Give the author a part as an extra with about 3 words of dialogue.  It's like Hitchcock always showing up briefly in the movies he directed.

I've watched them all, at least a couple of time, and I definitely want more.  I'm satisfying my craving by re-reading the books.
