Website Feedback
« on: October 27, 2012, 02:35 PM »
Just another reason why I love this website:

I just discovered (I know, I'm kinda slow sometimes! :D) that when we:

- click on the 'title' of a post and
- copy and paste that page's URL and
- click on that link

it takes us to the exact post.  (I've been just copying the page's URL where a specific post was when I wanted to refer someone to the post.  Told ya I was kind of slow. :embarassed:  :D
Some other forums have permalinks we can right-click on to get the URL for that exact post, but we need mouse's for that.  We don't need mouse's here at PTS! :dance:

Re: Website Suggestions & Feedback
« Reply #1 on: November 10, 2012, 10:16 PM »
Suggestions:
May I suggest:
being able to add attachments to PM's like we can when we post covers of books, etc. please?

and

is it possible to have the page format in such a way so that we can click page x of y, please?
For example, if a thread has 21 pages and we want to go to page 10, could we have the option of typing in the page number we want:
Go to page ___ of 21

Right now, it looks like:
Pages: [1] 2 3 ... 21   Go Down

and we have to click on '3', then from page 3 click on '5', etc. to get to the pages between 3 and 21.

Feedback:
{Graphic deleted due to possible malware attachment}
 And yet another reason why I love you guys so much: there's no 5000 character limit to our PM's (unlike some forums, who shall remain nameless, *cough* tehparadox and viprasys *cough*) {Graphic deleted due to possible malware attachment}

Thank you again for a most excellent website!  {Graphic deleted due to possible malware attachment}

hi mayabelle, you can go to page 5 without clicking page 3 first. Just click on the ... between 3 and 21 and surprise! the rest of the pages will appear.. hehehe   ^-^

Defective thanks button? / Adobe Reader XI
« Reply #4 on: November 12, 2012, 11:35 PM »
Speaking of the thanks button, sometimes when I click on the thanks button, nothing happens.  If I've clicked on it before, I'll get the message: "You have already posted a thanks to this post...
Drypen recommended I clean out my cache, cookies and DNS.  I did that today (because I was trying to install the new, updated Adobe Reader XI, found at: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login and it wouldn't download at first.)
Later on when I was visiting a thread, I noticed I hadn't clicked on the thanks button (and it deserves a thank you) but when I clicked on it again, I got the message: You have already posted a thanks to this post at October 03, 2012, 11:39 AM
and today is November 12th. {Graphic deleted due to possible malware attachment}

I was just wondering what other reason could it be that the thanks button doesn't always work?

Sometimes the answers are just out of our reach!

There are 12 pages on that thread you linked to. If you clicked the thank you button it would only show up on the page you did not on the others and you saw what happens when you try to  thank someone again lol.

Previous conversations in the shout box
« Reply #6 on: February 28, 2013, 10:28 PM »
And still another reason why I love this website so much:  I just learned from Red that if we click on the icon that looks like a little clock (just above the shout box), we can see what was previously written in the shout box, past what we're able to see in the actual shout box.{Graphic deleted due to possible malware attachment}
(Not all websites have this capability.)

Thanks, Red.  :)

One person can make a difference :)
« Reply #7 on: March 04, 2013, 07:32 AM »
I know it looks like this thread is my own personal thread but really, it's for anyone who has feedback, suggestions, etc. they'd like to share.  ;D

Having said that, may I say: one person can make a difference.  I was reading a post written by Filouke, where Filouke said:

Hi guys

you probably noticed that our goal for February is considerably higher than usual. You might wonder why that is. The main reason is that Mr. Admin had some unforeseen costs in January, caused by outages. On top of that Ads revenue was very low. Gathering $1.500 won't be easy. So, I want to ask you all to help out if possible. All bits help, even $5. We proved before that we can do things together that seem undoable, so I'm sure together we can do this as well.

If you want more info, don't hesitate to ask

And thank you all in advance for your help!

- Filou

and I remember I hadn't clicked on as many ads in January as I normally do.  If one person can make this much of a difference, think how much of a difference we all could make if we all clicked on those ads, each month.  Personally I think PTS is worth it for me to spend my time helping out in any way I can (and clicking those ads hardly takes any time at all. :) )  Do you think so, too?

Re: Ad Revenue
« Reply #8 on: March 05, 2013, 02:58 AM »
Today, I noticed the ads (just under the Ad Choice ads) aren't there.

The Ad Choice ads seem to be the same ones all the time.  I wish we had more of a variety (seeing as we can only click on those three or four times a day.)

When I click on the words just below the Ad Choice ads (when they were on the screen), I'd get different ads for a little while, then I just get an infolink page - regardless of which words I click on.  And eventually when I click on the words, nothing happens - my cursor just shows as a circle going round and round and I can't see any ads.  This lasts for about a day or two.  Maybe I'm clicking on the ads too much! :D

Each Ad Choice is different for everyone.  Google tracks your movements on the net then puts up ads according to what it thinks YOUR interests are.  I don't see what any of you see.  I usually see bodybuilding stuff.  Example do you see one right now telling you that you can get Ripped in a week?

You actually control what you see by where you go and what you do on the net.  Sites like Yahoo and Google track what you do and where you go on the net.  They also provide what they call Web beacons that allow them to follow you.   This explans Yahoo's You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Many of us don't like them tracking us.  I don't block Ads because I want to hurt a site.  I block ads because they track me and I don't feel they have the right to track me.  That's why I use Ghostery  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login  and also Do Not Track  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

If you want to see something different in ads, I suggest you visit different places.  Google and the rest will track you and start putting different ads up.  We don't control it.  The only thing we can do is control adult content such as ads for NOT ALLOWED sites.  We can tell them we don't want those on this site.  IF anyone ever sees that PLEASE let us know right away.  We need to inform the ad company that provides the ads.

Also Google and the others only pay per so many clicks from each person.  So if you click more than that, you are simply wasting your time.

Feedback: Unlimited inbox storage. :)
« Reply #11 on: April 18, 2013, 05:43 AM »
Another thing I like about PTS (there are so many things :) ) is that we don't have a limit on the amount of PM's we can have in our inbox (and I think PTS is the only forum - at least the only one I've found - where there isn't a limit!)

Well, at one moment, I was PMing 18 members at the same time. When I sent the third one,  I received a "You have reached your limit of 40 PMs an hour, please reduce your sending list"...
I was soooooooo happy !  :D :D :D :D

I'm not getting notifications on the threads for which I usually receive notifications.  Yes, I've been on the threads since the last notification I received.  Thanks for any help.

Edit: Never mind.  I found them in my spam folder.  Gmail has a mind of its own.

I was just writing a PM when I saw a little pop-up window saying I had an 'incoming' PM.  I hadn't noticed that before.  It's a nice touch!  Thank you. :)

What's the number of clicks from each person that Google will pay for?  Is it different than the number that (for example) Internet Explorer will pay for?

We can now search words with apostrophe's in them (I think. :)
« Reply #17 on: November 06, 2013, 01:59 AM »
I couldn't use the search feature for a few hours, today (I was hoping it was being 'repaired', tweaked, etc.)
So when I was able to eventually search again, I tried searching a title with an apostrophe in it and it showed up in the search results!! :dance:
(I searched the title: "In My Mother's Footsteps" - a book listed in the authors zone at: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login )

So I just wanted to say thank you so much to the person/persons who fixed the search feature. :-*
