Recommendations & The Like

So I'd just thought I'd start a topic about renting games and what other's would recommend highly. I use gamefly so I rent my games before I buy and some have turned out good and some........not so good. So I'd like to know what you play and what you would consider playing.

At my house we'll play anything and everything - kids games, shooters, RPG's, fighting games, driving games....my boyfriend has an xbox as well and he is all about getting achievements (he has a gamerscore of around 150,000) so he buys and rents a lot of different kinds of games. Me, I'm picky and can't find that many games I actually like. Here are a few of my favorites:

Shooters:
Call of Duty series (Waw, MW2, Black Ops, MW3)
Battlefield 3 & Bad Company 2
Halo 3

Action/RPG:
Dante's Inferno
Dark Souls
Dark Siders
Castlevania

Kids/Family:
Lego games (Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Batman, Pirates)

Survival/Horror:
Resident Evil franchise
Silent Hill franchise
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2
Undead Nightmare

Fighting:
Tekken series
DoA

Driving:
Gran Turismo 4
Burnout: Paradise
Twisted Metal series

Is Dark Souls really any good? I have a friend who got 2 copies so he's giving me one and I wasn't too sure about it. It's a sequel to Demon Souls is what I heard, so do I have to play that or isn't fine just by itself?

Dark Souls is great!! I never played Demon Souls but I love Dark Souls so I'd say no, you don't have to play the first one but it might help to get you familiar with the environment/actions

Yea, I saw my friend play Demon Souls once and I don't think I could grind through a game that gradually gets harder. He was having such trouble with a dragon that kept going up and down a bridge. He hid in one of the spots and shot it with an arrow over and over and over again.

The game can get pretty repetitious but it's still fun- you get such a huge feeling of accomplishment when you finally do what you were trying to do something. I found myself actually yelling with glee quite a few times....of course, there were all those other times I wanted to throw my controller through my monitor ;)

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the God Of War series of games available for the Sony range of games consoles.  It is an excellent hack and slash game with a gripping storyline, which keep me playing for days even after I completed it.  The graphics of the games (with the exception of the first game) are amazing and really show what the Sony brand of games consoles are actually capable of.

Bayonetta is also another great action game, which is allot of fun to play.  Plus the cutscenes are nothing short of stunning, however there were times I felt I was at a StripClub.  HAHAHA.

Well unfortunately, it seems not many post on the video game forum. I, myself have been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off because of the new job, new apartment, what to buy for said apartment, the loss of my ps3 power cord, and haven't been able to post. Today is the first day where I have finally got stuff done. I was like YES!  >:D My friend however did state that God Of War is pretty epic and went as far as to buy the collection of all *think that's what it is, not sure* of all the games for it. Currently, I just picked up Dragon's Dogma and it's entertaining so far and it promises access to the Resident Evil 6 demo which I probably won't play but that's cool.

Hmm.. Unfortunately I haven't had much time for games lately. Last things I played were COD and Minecraft on the 360 but, I'm highly anticipating the release of Darksiders 2 at the end of next month  ^-^

How is Minecraft on the 360? My boyfriend played it on PC and almost a built a tower. Until he got Windows 7 and had to reinstall but now has Diablo 3 to play.
