Removing "Generated by ABC Amber LIT Converter" question
« on: November 02, 2012, 12:45 AM »
Sorry I'm new here so not sure if I should post this here but does anyone know how to remove this
“Generated by ABC Amber LIT Converter, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login” from ePub it's very distracting

I moved your request because it was buried in a topic that didn't have anything to do with your question.  You might get the answer faster posted by itself as a new topic in a different forum.  The forum you posted in is mainly for questions about the Tuebl Site or problems with the site.  Not  much help for your book.

There are several ways using Calibre or Sigil. Which would you be using?

I have both so which would be the easiest?  Perhaps you could list both processes.  Thanks, Leni

I'm not familiar with Sigil but there is a tutorial You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.

Using Calibre there are a couple of ways.

1. Convert book to rtf or html & do it manually.

2. Highlight the book, click convert, and use search and replace. This does not work if there are page numbers though and I haven't figured out a way to get it to remove all of them without listing each one.

My personal favorite is checking my library accounts to see if I can find a library ebook & borrow that.  :D

I use calibre but the search n replace never works 4 me i usually just delete the book its too annoying when it's in every second sentence.  my books are always in ePub or I convert from pdf to ePub. I'm not very technical so I'm looking for the "dummies" version of how to fix this

Sadly there isn't a For Dummies version of this.

I still haven't got the hang of the Sigil verson.  Drypen will be on later and might be able to help more.  The last time I wanted rid of that line, I simply read the book in Sigil and removed it as I went.  I've also been known to scroll thru and remove it on Sigil.

Sorry I don't use Sigil but Philo I've read a book on Kindle but had Calibre open to add those modifications as I go. If anyone knows of a book uploaded here that has the amber blah blah on it let me know. I'll download it and do some screen shots for us visual learners.  ;)

Actually using Sigil is the easiest and quickest most of the time.  I use the 'code view', copy/paste the part(s) to remove in the 'Find ' box and use a space in the 'replace' box so that the words don't run together.  I tell it to 'Replace All'  and usually go file by file depending on how well it works for any given book.  Of course there's always a bit of final editing when you're done but it's usually pretty minor.  I'd say about 15 minutes max for an average book.

Do you know how it would remove consecutive numbers?

If it does I haven't figured it out.  I usually do the first 10 manually then just put '2' in the search box, use the 'Find' , it brings the twenties  up sequentially  and so on until 100 then I just put 1 in and repeat.  Has to be something I REALLY want and can't find anywhere.  It does go faster than it sounds tho.  Ya pick up a rhythm after awhile - lol.   If there are still extra spaces I use the code view again to copy/replace the code that creates them.  Usually works well altho on some books it will take out all the spaces.  Lots of 'save' before I take the next step.

I'm an idiot, I actually enjoy doing it and coming up with a finished product.

Lol. Then I'm an idiot too!
