Hi everyone, I'm an independent fantasy writer with a few books out and am a fan of Fantasy, Science Fiction and some YA as well. I thought I might check out this forum to see what folks are like here. Thanks. :)

Hi Jordan, when you get a chance we would love to hear more about your books.  Pop over to the authors zone and tell us more please.  There are a lot of people on this forum interested in fantasy books.
Please excuse any spelling errors.   I have dyslexic fingers!

Hi Jordan!

I went ahead and moved you (easier lol).

I love Science Fiction and Fantasy. What are your titles? Where can we get them? Smashwords?

We have a lot of bloggers and reviewers who hang out here too so if you ever need that let us know with a post. They are always happy to help, especially indy authors.

Thanks, Drypen,
I just wrote an intro. Should I delete one? Thanks for the info on the reviewers too. :)

My titles are 'The Book of One: A New Age' and 'A Stolen Crown (Book of One #2)' and 'A Dragon Born (Book of One #3)'.

The first two are just under 100,000 words each and the third is 115,000.

They were all published in the last three months on Kindle and Nook. I'm looking at Smashwords and thinking about signing up with them too.

You did? I'll just link them all together. It might be easier to do that then just delete one. Most members want to hear about you from you. And your welcome about the reviewers. I personally suck at it  ^-^ although everyone always wants me to try. At first. Then after reading it they quit trying.  :D

I checked them out and they got pretty good reviews. Nice how they said you improved too! It's one of my favorite things to start reading an author from the very beginning of their career and watch how they improve and evolve. I don't work so I'll have to wait for hubby's next paycheck and get the first one, but I definitely want to read them all.

---edited: On further reflection, I shouldn't have asked the questions that were previously here as the answers might be too divisive. Apologies to all. I will try to figure such things out on my own.

I am very excited about the fourth book, which is tentatively titled 'A Child of Fire' and am working on another edit of the first book, to address some of the things that I missed.

Thank you, Drypen, for your encouraging approach to fledgeling writers. I hope you enjoy the books. :)

Also, if anyone is curious about the stories I am working on and wants to ask, I am happy to try to answer. I noticed a few threads and posts that seem to want to foster that, and I'm happy to participate if the members of the board would like me to.
Thanks. :)

Oh drat I'm too slow! I was going to tell you it's no different than the newspaper industry. We get "comments" and write in all the time about the editing. I kid you not. Mostly from English teachers. One had me laughing so hard, she sounded like she was grading the writer! It's difficult to write an interesting story that for different levels of education, but to be critiqued in that manner is just rude and we treat is as such.

Where I work obits are submitted but not really edited so we get a lot of complaints we do NOT pass on. Poor people are grieving and don't need that added insult IMO.

So I'd say take it with a grain of salt. Plus I was talking more about your style not the edits. The story's sound interesting even after I read about your so called editing issues and most of the complainers said they were going to keep reading the series because it was interesting. So focus on that. They liked the story enough to keep reading it and I'm sure I will too!

That would be horrible for someone to be critiqued on an obit. I can't believe people actually write in...maybe they don't realize that the obits are written and submitted by the actual people who are in the middle of grieving.

I will take your advice and not take those things personally and just take the positive from it and work on improving things, while keeping focus on the story. Most people are continuing through to the third book, so I will take that as a positive sign and hope they're enjoying it.

Thanks for the encouragement, Drypen. :)
