Review:
I've been a fan of Simone elkeles since I first read Perfect Chemistry. I loved Rules of Attraction though not as much as Perfect Chemistry. I had HUGE expectations for Chain Reaction, but it was a disappointment for me. I guess the higher you are, harder the fall. I pushed all my books in que to make room for this one, but I now wish I didn't read this one at all.
I didn't like Luis or Nikki one bit. I was waiting for the book to end so I could move on. Nikki is one hard MC to like. She sounds bitter, cynical and condescending all the time. She doesn't seem to like anybody except her best friend. One redeeming quality she got is her sympathy for orphan dogs.
Luis is too soft to be anywhere near being "Bad Boy".
Story felt like a drag. Remember how Kiera and Brittany have a playful / naughty side? Nikki doesn't have it. There is no playful flirtation building up to that sexual tension. That
essence of Perfect Chemistry is missing in this book and was a big let down for me.
Apparently the more violent your reaction to a guy, the more you like that guy. If only I knew I'd be going around kicking guys instead of being nice
Nikki knees Luis where it counts when she meets him. Junior (Nikki and Luis son in epilogue) gets punched in face by another girl and they think it's the beginning of a beautiful love story.
So now you all know how to get a guy to lurve you *smirk*
To end on a good note, I feel that I should tell you that there are also a few funny or sweet moments, and also there are some hot scenes between the main characters (but I was too annoyed to enjoy them) - so I don't know, just read the book if you want to, and judge it by yourself. Maybe you will love it.
PS: By the way, don't get me wrong: one star is for the nice cover, only one star for the story.
I didn't like it.
