LoginReview: I really don't know what to say about this book. I thought I'd like it, but I couldn't stand it. I was about 40 pages along and it was like re-reading Twilight but missing everything Twilight had (or did I outgrew Twilight?).
Story / Plot:
Nothing different from Twilight. Bad vamps, good / vegetarian vamps. Bad vamp chasing after the girl. Good vamp / hero saving the girl every other page. Hero carrying the girl around - ick, like she couldn't walk. Same sappy sappy dialogs and cheesy love fest.
Characters:
Couldn't stand anybody. Not single character that held my interest. A very bad immitation of Twilight characters. A vamp "family" feeding on animals. A father and mother figures, alice and jasper look alikes (names are max and Nadia). If you thought Bella from Twilight was annoying, Dannie (the MC in this book) has no saving grace to remotely please you.
Dialogs:
Descriptions / dialogs are un-bearable, some cheesy, some weird.
Examples:
1.
Ethan blew his concentrated breath into her face, clearly wanting to sedate her for the kill. Am I the only one to think of bad breath here? yeah real turn-on - Not.
2. This is what Ethan (the hero) says to Dannie when he gives her a gift of earrings:
"These aren’t South Sea Pearls because those would be far too big hanging from your lovely lobes.” Ick..."lobes"? Really? So not romantic.
Also there are several cheesy scenes that were supposed to be romantic, but very nausiating for me. Thankfully I forgot most of them already. Thank the Gods of forgetfulness.
All in all, this was definetely not for me. But if you were to brave it, I'd suggest that you better be in a very twilight-y mood (actually more cheesier than twilight) Don't get me wrong I am a twilighter too, but this book was just weird. I am not going to subject myself to more torment with the sequel.
