« on: March 19, 2013, 01:27 PM »
REVIEW IT HERE!!!
Have a book that was just incredible that you want to tell the whole world about?! Maybe you thought it was terrible and want to warn everyone away from it!

Well here is your chance to let it out! Don't hold back on what you thought we really want to know.

We want this to be a place to discuss books, to plan on reading books together, to talk about the writers, and or anything and everything about books!

AUTHORS if you would like to have your book reviewed please add it here with a link to where we can find it! I am going to try and read every book someone adds to this thread. (Be kind to me)

When Posting about a book Please CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE to the name and Author of the book.

I am starting the thread out with a book we are starting this Friday!

Book of the Week = BoTW

Slated (Slated#1) by Teri Terry  :star: :star: :star: :star:

Since I started reading this book I was hooked with the whole idea of slating, Kyla's character development, the unearthing of secrets and the suspicious light each character was cast under. As this was the first book in the series it was more like a teaser to me with hints of something better to come keeping me interested and eager to find out what happens next.

I'm definitely going to give Fractured a go, hopefully it lives up to my expectations and isn't a let down from Slated

Review: Sealed With A Curse (Weird Girls #1) by Cecy Robson
« Reply #63 on: April 05, 2013, 04:58 AM »
Sealed With A Curse (Weird Girls #1) by Cecy Robson :star: :star: :star: :star:

I was pleasantly surprised with Sealed with a Curse by Cecy Robson. I picked it up after going through a paranormal book funk (where every paranormal book I read seemed kind of...blah) and found myself really enjoying the world the author created and the characters that inhabited it.

Sealed with a Curse is the story of the four Wird Sisters (Wird...Weird...get it?!), who each have some kind of supernatural power. When vampires around Tahoe start going a wee bit crazed they find themselves allied with the local (non crazed) vampires and werewolf pack. Told from the eldest sister, Celia's, perspective the reader is treated to a mixture of action, hilarity and romance.

One thing to keep in mind when you're reading this and wondering, "why the heck is the romance so slow?". This is a series and obviously the author is building up the tension for future books (which I LIKE!). I didn't realise it was a series until about 3/4 of the way through the book (when I used the wondrous power of the Internet and looked it up)so I did find myself scratching my head a bit wondering when/if the HEA came into play.

All in all, despite a few things that made my eyes roll I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next instalment in the Weird Sisters Series!

Favourite line from the book has to be from the head vampire Misha...

“Good night, my sweet kitten.” He nodded to Aric. “May mange leave you bald and infertile, mongrel.”

and the response he gets from Aric...

“Run along, blood licker; the master calls,” Aric growled.

4 STARS!  :)

Review: Highlander Most Wanted (The Montgomery's and Armstrongs) by Maya Banks  :star: :star:
I'm a little disappointed with this series it doesn't live up to the promise of Highlander series by Maya Banks

Oh man, that sucks. I have HMW on my TBR list. There have been a couple of her books that I have been disappointed in but never a KGI book. That is one of my favorite series. I can't wait to get my hands on Forged in Steel.  >:D
*~Since Ashen needs it to be official :P I claim both Vengeance and Brass as my New Species. Paws off ladies they are mine!!~*

Yay! Like I said in the review, there were a few things which made my eyes roll (but I won't spoil them for you!!!) but I really like the idea of a series, especially a Paranormal, where the Hero and Heroine's romance is a continuation throughout the series. Let me know what you think if you do check it out. I love that books are sometimes so subjective. One person's favourite book can be another person's most hated! lol.

Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost

TT is just as awesome as its prequel  Once Burned. Leila reminded me greatly of Cat with her desire to help others and catch the bad guys with complete disregard to her own safety where as Vlad played the role of protective control freak lover religiously. Both romantic and relationship progress between the pair is conveyed beautifully. The dialogue is vintage Jeaniene Frost so ofcourse its great. TT has quite alot of plot & character development so definitely a must read!

I gave it :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:  however it was more 4.5 stars for me

Completely agree! Love this series and this, the second book of the series, was great. Couldn't put it down. I think I gave it either a 4.5 or a 5 star rating on Goodreads. And yes, dialogue is so vintage Frost. Snarky, sarcastic and at times sweet.  Great review! :)

Out Of Easy by Ruta Sepetys
:star::star::star::star:

I found the book quite simple to read. Josie was an engaging character trying to escape the stigma of being a prostitute's daughter, working hard to make her earning, finding joy in simple things and making the most of her lot in life. Her journey to fulfill her dreams is not easy but her ambition, determination and hardwork is inspiring and keeps her going

Forgot to post a review about this book caz, right after
I got done with the last page I jumped right into Own the Wind!  lol
Anyways, basically I agree with wat everyone else b4 me posted about this book.
It was just as good as the first, and I like that Leila doesn't let Vlad walk all over her (mostly).
But it sucks that we have to wait for another year to know wat happens next  >:(!!

Review: Chasing Sam (Vegas Mates #1) by Krystal Shannan

Chasing Sam  (Vegas Mates #1) by Krystal Shannan

This is the first book I've read from Krystal Shannan but it sure isn't going to be the last! I enjoyed this little book it was a classic Romero and Juliet setting. The heroines family is very old school, the hero's family is much more down to earth. I read this in one sitting.

It had just gotten to the good part and boom it was over, blah! It was a let down. We never get to see either families reactions and the set up was there for another half of the book.

She is a new author that bears watching.

Like all Kristen Ashley books, I thought this
Latest one rocked too. I wish I could give it 5 stars but
I felt like something was missing, I didn't get that totally satisfied
feeling that I usually get with KA books. Though I loved the characters,
and I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.

Fever  by  Maya Banks  :star: :star: :star:

For me this book was much much better than the 1st book in the series Rush the story was more solid the characters more believable and "sane" even though there was a lot of repitition and i skimmed parts  i still enjoyed the book and i found some parts sweet and one part in particular funny, looking forward for Ash's story and i hope his book is a step from this one.

Dark Triumph by Robin Lafevers    :star: :star: :star: .5

While this one did have a lot more fighting and killing and assassin-ing. The ending was just too mushy for me. The whole book had been so dark and gritty and then it's just all rainbow and flowers and unicorns. Eh.
