Book Swap Sites
« on: April 19, 2013, 02:08 PM »
These sites are NOT for Ebooks.  If you have hard copies or if you only read hard copies [paperback or hardback] these are the sites for you.

Do remember that while this is not illegal and we have been doing this since Gutenberg published the first books, the author does NOT receive any money from this.  You are NOT supporting an author by swapping books.  If you wish to support an author please use a book sellers site.  Again Authors do not receive any money from the swapping [or sale] of used hard copy books.

How many books do you have on your bookshelf that you're never going to read again? They might look good but mostly they're just gathering dust and growing in numbers. Why not swap them for something you would like to read - the latest best selling thriller or a new picture book for your kids?

With Bimbambim the swapping process could not be easier. All you do is tell us what books you have (I Have -button) and which books you would like (I Want - button) and we'll sort out the rest.

You can specify if you want to swap locally, nationally or internationally (books in most languages). Remember reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body, so start exercising those fingers and load up your books!

This site allows you to loan out your books and keep track of who has them.
Do people spend time in your home looking through your book collection?
Do you enjoy loaning out your favorite books to your friends so they can enjoy them, too?
Do you have trouble finding books required for school requirements because they are always checked out from your library?
With reBOOKed, you can put your books onto bookshelves, share those bookshelves with specific circles of people, and let everyone know if they are available to borrow, to buy, or just to give away.

THIS IS NOT A  SWAP SITE.  I am putting this here because we all know how expensive and what a PIA text books are:

Makes only sense since hard copy books are out there.  These are not pirate sites with ebook copies so I see no reason why people can't continue to do what we have always done with our hardbacks/paperbacks and trade them, donate them or give them away.  Why throw out a book or have to store it when you are never going to read it again.

I'm totally unable to throw out a book. It's physically impossible for me.  :P

When I was in Ireland, I borrowed a book from my landlord. When I wanted to give it back to him, he said : "No, you keep it. Book are made to be read, not kept on shelves. I read it. It's yours now to do whatever you want to with."
Books are definitely going around a lot over there. Quite often, when you go into pub, you'll find one or two shelves with used books. You see one you like, you take it. And then bring it back to another pub....
I guess they have their own swapping system !

I take mine with me to Dr appointments.  I let them in the waiting room with a note that says "free to good home".  They vanish in a flash

I read those when they first came out. My little cousins had them and were talking non-stop about them, so I was kind of forced into reading tem. I thought they were good. Scary, spooky books for kids. It was ok.

Oh horse pucky.. We all know you read them because they are scary.

Yep it is the one by Steven King.
I was reading that when it was first published back in the 70s.  I got it as a book club selection.  I'm lying in bed reading this in the middle of the night.  I lived in a small town like the one in the book.  I'm at the part where he is describing the town after the vampires.

I get up.  I look out my bedroom window. I can see the traffic light flashing on and off like it did after midnight.  The streets are empty.  And our steam heaters gave a bang.

I hit my bed running and didn't come out till daylight...

 :D :D :D
You must have been really scared !

My scary book was It. When published in France, it was in three parts. A friend lent me the first one, then summer holidays, then he moved out. For me, the Clown never died. I have a pretty active imagination  when it come to that sort of things. I was 14. It took me two years to go back at the back of the garden at night !   :D
Then I saw the movie, and the clown died.  :P

Just enjoy Bookie.  That's why I put them up so people could find more books to read... as if we need even MORE books to read.   :D

And I was scared s***less.  He wrote a really good book then.  It was nice, tight, moved well and did what good writers should do, transport you into the situation.  And then he started to get paid by the word and his writing went to crap.... sigh.  I can't stand his books now.

Hey if anyone is interested and reading this... The book rental offers Audiobooks too.  It runs like Netfix.  You pay a fee and you get the CD or DVD mailed to you as you select them.  You finish and mail them back and get the next...

Give it time.  One person said they posted some old tax books they didn't think anyone would want and they had 5 people ask about them.   :o

I personally would NOT be rushing to read about Taxes but it seems there is something for everyone.
