Can you recommend romances with assassin/hitman for a hero?
« on: February 27, 2012, 01:01 AM »
Ok, this is a tough one, cause I'm after contemporary books - romances - where the main hero is an assassin/hitman or very much of an anti-hero. It's much easier to find "good bad guys" in paranormals, but I'm interested in the books that are happening nowadays. There's a lot of books where those heroes are working for some government agency, where they are SEALs, black ops and alike, but I can't find good ones with "good bad guys", i.e. guys that will like the heroine and decide to stay with her against all odds. The closest I could find so far were Jennifer Crusie's Agnes and the Hitman and Anne Stuart's Black Ice, but even in them, heroes were working for some kind of (more or less) good guys. Can you help me find more of the books with gun-happy (anti)heroes, and if they have sense of humor, even better?

Leslie Langtry has a whole series of books about a family of hitmen.  I think the first one is Stand By Your Hitman.  They are funny too!

Try Jessica clare- Last hit

And Roxie Rivera has very anti-heroes (mob connections) in the Her Russian protector series.

Have you read the Evan Arden series by Shay Savage? Three books about a very hot and bad hitman/sniper for the Chicago mob and a romance. The book titles are Otherwise Alone, Otherwise Occupied and Otherwise Unharmed. They're available on amazon for sell.

Have you tried Sherrilyn Kenyon's League series. Book one (Born of Night)features a trained assassin at the hero -Nykyrian Quiakides- and he's sexy as hell. I wouldn't mind him on my tail.
It's a futuristic romance, but the world doesn't get in the way of the romance.

Skye warren's Dont let go.  Good book.  Bad bad guy.

Last hit and last breath by jessica clare are fantastic.

Roxie rivera also has seduced by the loan shark.

Knight by Kristen ashley is an anti hero but not hitman.

Lilith Saintcrow released one recently, Blood Call

Loved Agnes and the Hitman! Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series has a yummy anti-hero; also there's a book from Sandra Brown or Linda Hamilton, I am drawing a blank on the title and author, maybe someone else will remember: Caucasian woman was in South America, her child was snatched and she lost her kidney from being stabbed trying to save him. The hitman / anti-hero in it is pretty hot and helps her on her journey.

The book is 'Cry No More' by Linda Howard. It is harrowing and the best (IMO) Howard has ever penned.
