Site to track Free Amazon Book daily offers
« on: August 20, 2012, 08:52 PM »
I found this when hunting for a good way to find out what was free on Amazon for the day.  I use Kindle for PC and since I found this site, I've added about 100 books to the reader.

If you check the left hand side and scroll down you will see:

Free ebooks [fiction and nonfiction] links
99 cent ebooks [fiction and nonfiction] links
Kindle Lending Library Books

They seem to update daily.  They also contain reviews of books as well as contests for things such as a new Kindle Fire.   Also included is cheaper books such as the 2.99 books.

Do be aware that this will take you back to the book on Amazon to download it.

A quick note: If you do not have a Kindle [I don't]  download the Kindle for PC application then install it on your computer and transfer to Calibre. You can convert the books from there.  Mine have all converted just fine. ;)

Kindle for PC problems

Note if you have problems with Kindle for PC and you have a firewall, try disabling the Firewall and then downloading your book.  Re-enable it right after you are done.

I cannot get my Firewall to accept it for some reason so I have to disable the firewall when I am downloading books to my Kindle for PC otherwise I don't get the book because the Firewall blocks Amazon.

Free books linking to amazon can be found in many places.  Often authors will put their books free for a short time only or if they write a series, one book might be free and the other ones will cost you to get them.  You will find quite a few "iffy" books but if you do a hunt you will find some really great reads.  Just make sure to check that the book is indeed still free.  It also depends which country you are in, whether they charge for the book or not.

Kindle Daily Nation updates a few times a day.  You will find descriptions of the books and some will be rated.  I agree with philo that this is a good site.  Just remember to scroll down to see the books and turn from page to page as they upload a lot of books each day.

Kogrid sometimes has a lot of books and sometimes only a few.  They update daily so you have to check everyday.  They tend to have a fair bit of erotica but at least they show the genre with each book.  No real details are shown here.  You have to find out about the book by clicking and checking it out at Amazon.

Pixel of Ink is another site where you can find some really good books.  They pick and chose to show you only the best.  Usually one book is at a bargain price and the rest are free.  They update three times a day.

Hundredzeros is another great site.  They also have organized books by category.  I'm not sure how often they update.

Another favourite of mine is Bargain Book Hunter.  They also update about three times a day, have one bargain book and show others free.

Then there is Addall books that show you some free books.  No descriptions though, you have to look at the cover and then link to Amazon for the description.

Books on the Knob also shows some really good books along with other apps for their book reading devices.

By checking these sites I have found many good books and have some new favourite authors.  You will find more than enough books to keep you interested.
Please excuse any spelling errors.   I have dyslexic fingers!

I really like You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login because you can upload your Amazon wish list and track if there's a price drop. You can also see free books.  Great site.

I really like this site too, because you can set up a group for specific genres - and save the search!

I download books at ereaderiq every day (daily freebies come in my email). It is tailored to my tastes in genre. I'm amazed at the lack of repeats, there are many but not as many as you would expect.

Smashwords also has free books that you can download according to genre and price (free) length of novel etc. I've received hundreds of books with these two sites alone. Ereaderriq gives you new authors and so does smashwords. Don't forget gutenberg's free library. It has volunteers around the world and sites at each nation that is gathering copy write expired work from private libraries. Every day there is something new. Baen books also gives away tons of freebies (usually first books in a series) if you are a scifi fan.

Have you noticed that Amazon is now going to penalize bloggers for referring too many free books?  :'(

bloggers make money when readers use their links to Amazon and buy something. If they buy too many free books, Amazon will discount their earnings.

I did not know that. So if I get a email from a blogger and I click on the links threw the email (which I do it like this all the time) do they still get credit $? Do you know?

wow that's just wrong.
I didn't know that either Love. I guess you learn something new everyday.
I got the email from ereaderiq about them not sending emails about free books but I didn't read it very carefully or look into it.

Yes, if you buy something, they do. UNLESS they link to free books that get "bought" and the freebies end up too high, then they lose any (or some) of their earnings for other things.

THAT's the reason bloggers don't want to notify readers about free books any more...
