What are your fave books in each genre? Week 7: Zombies
« on: December 02, 2011, 08:56 PM »
Here is the weekly thread where everyone can pop in and list their favorite book from a different genre every week.

This week's poll winner is:

Zombies

...they don't have to be strictly YA or Adult. Just list your favorites and maybe a reason why or a quick summary. (The books do not have to have both species, can be either or both)

I am going to include a poll at the top so everyone can vote for which genre to feature next week. (I included an "other" option...please specify in a post which genre. Thanks)

 Enjoy!!

I am not a fan of the zombie genre but did attempt to read some.  The only one that kept my attention was Dearly Departed by Lia Habel although it probably would have been a much better read if the author decreased the five first-person narratives to just two or three. Having five narratives detracted from the flow of the novel and pulled me in too many different directions.  Overall I loved the setting, the characters, and the story.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan was a good one- though I don't think the actual word zombie was ever used.

Living with the Dead series by Jesse Peterson!

I tend to like most zombie books. I've yet to find one I absolutely hated.

Since there hasn't been a lot of responses for this thread, I am going to start having this as a monthly thread instead of weekly.  Therefore, the next thread won't start until Jan 1.

Ok, I am totally skipping this genre because Zombies scare the CRAP out of me!!!! I can't even watch the movies that are out. So I know reading the books would scare the bejeezus out of me! My imagination is probably a lot worse than anything they could put in the movies, so anything with spiders and Zombies, I will just take y'all's word for it!!..lol! Really though, they scare me.. :P

I'm currently about halfway through White Flag of the Dead by Joseph Talluto. It's so good I purchased the next in the series last night. This one is a little different, with the main character trying to survive with an infant still drinking from a bottle and needing diapers.

Zombies aren't generally my thing...although I have read some here and there but one zombie series I really really liked was

"As the World Dies: A Zombie Trilogy" by Rhiannon Frater.

Excellent books - all three of them. The characters were wonderfully written and it really drew me into the story fast. The books were"

The first days, fighting to survive and Siege. Recommend these three to anyone who likes zombie books.

die for my-amy plum and cold kiss-amy garvey were pretty good as well!!:)

Oh totally forgotten about Die For Me, I really enjoyed that book.  Cold Kiss I never got done with it as I got sidetracked with other books.  I should go back and finish it.
