Looking for a new tablet
« on: November 20, 2015, 05:04 PM »
Has anyone got any recs for a good tablet? I've had a Nexus 7 for the past couple of years, and it's about shot- running slow, battery drain, etc. So I'm looking to upgrade.

For me, the Google store is a must, so that leaves out the Fire line (not to mention I hate their carousel). I've been looking at the Asus Zenpad S, but it's new enough, there aren't TONS of reviews out yet, and they seem to be mixed, especially as far as bloatware, battery life, and how slow they get Android OS updates. The other one I've been looking at is the new Nvidia Shield K1.

I mostly use it to read and surf the web and tumblr, and watch the occasional video, but I don't generally game on it. Does anyone have any recs for me that I haven't seen? I'd like to keep it around 200$, and no larger than an 8ish inch screen.

I recently bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab S (SM-T700) 8.4" version.... Love, love, love it so much I've given my niece my Ipad3 10"...!!!
Hadn't used it since the day I bought my Tab...

It's sooooooo responsive
Great battery life
16Gb
Processor = Exynos™ 5 Octa (1.9Ghz Quadcore + 1.3 Ghz Quadcore)

AND... I love the fact that it has expandable Memory (Micro SD Slot) up to 128Gb.

Hope this helps.

Well, since you are not gonna be using your tablet for any heavy gaming have you consider getting a Lenovo Tab 2 A8?  It has a 8 inch display, stereo front facing speakers and a pretty good spec for what you want to use a tablet for.  Plus it's cheaper than most other android tablets.

I looked at it, and some of the reviews mentioned mediocre display, and since I'll be reading on it lots, I don't know how good it'd be.

I really wish there was a Best Buy closer to me, so I could maybe get hands on with some of these, but the nearest one is a freaking hour away.

I did look at the Galaxy Tab S, but it seems to be harder to find? It's all about the S2 now!
