Moon+ reader, e-reader
« on: June 20, 2013, 06:23 AM »
Just sharing: I've recently downloaded Moon+ reader on my android and I just want to say its amazing for those of you who may be looking for an ereader or just want to update to a better ones. It supports epub, mobi, txt, html, umd, fb2, chm, cbr, rar, zip, opds and (pdf- pro version only). Customization is amazing and the features are endless. O and if you happen to open a format it doesn't support such as .doc or .docx it automatically reroute you to a program on your device that does support that format and opens it for you. Check it out, its amazing.
Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not
disenfranchised. No barrier of the
senses shuts me out from the sweet,
gracious discourse of my book friends.
They talk to me without
embarrassment or awkwardness.

Has anyone else ever had a problem with Moon + pro not working on certain files in the night time theme? It happened to me for the first time a few nights ago, I usually use the blue on black Night theme, but with this particular file, no matter what theme I used, the words wouldn't turn to anything but basic black, making it impossible to see on any of the darker screened themes. Figured it was an isolated thing, read on the daytime theme, then switched back on my next book.

And then last night it happened again on another book! And it really hurts my eyes to read on the day theme in the dark, not to mention waking up my husband.

I use the pro 7 theme and I've had no problems with it.
The books that moon + pro doesn't read I open with my Aldiko pro

It works great for me too, most of the time. So far, it's just been two books giving me issues, but the fact that they both happened in the same week worries me. :( They did the same in Aldiko, so it must be the ebooks themselves?

Try it with the calibre book opener, if it does open them then it's a problem of the book.
It happened to me once and I had to download another copy somewhere else.

Someone on another board helped me out. For future reference, I had to check off "override publisher's settings" or something to that effect, under settings.

Have not yet to encounter such occurrence. What type of file is that, is it a pdf or an epub? i only use moon reader pro solely for pdf files and FBreader for epub. You should report that to the developer. Sometimes updates turn to make a mess of an app than improve it. That's it if you update it. That could be the most viable reason for the problem. In case you could probably convert said to file to another type, i think it would also solve the problem then.

I use Marvin on my iPad.  It's customizable as well, and integrated with Dropbox.

How about BlueFire Reader? It supports Adobe’s DRM & has a wide range of customization options.

Another thumbs up for Moon + Reader Pro. It was well worth the $5. (It may be on sale for half price at this time, check!) I like it the best, and I have tried almost all the android reading apps. My Nexus 7 + Moon+ Pro + Calibre Companion have replaced my eink readers. (Well I still have my Kobo Glo & Mini, for taking places...they are smaller).

I use moon reader too and it's quite good but I can't open mobi files with it. I  usually end up converting them to epub... Anybody else has this problem?

I don't bother with mobi anymore, as epub works best for me. (Although since I just bought a Kindle Touch, I will have to do some more converting). I like my books to have working table of contents, which is easier to fix in an epub.
