This is so freaking amazing. Kindle Paperwhite (improved screen, refreshes and built in front-lit light) $119. Kindle (buttons) $69. Kindle Fire $159.

I can't wait until it shows up in stores. I want to be able to check it out first before getting it. I'm a Kindle3 Keyboard user so I'm not sure I'll like the touch interface; I really hate that it has smaller storage and no TTS option  :-\  :( I'm hoping the light is worth the loss of storage, TTS and some physical buttons (for home and page turning).

If anyone is a Kindle keyboard user who recently got the new Paperwhite, let me know what you think!

You don't dislike the touch interface then? I just don't know if I'll like it, but I'll probably end up getting it. I keep asking my hubby everyday if it's in the store yet so I can check it out :D

It takes some getting used to but it's intuitive once you do. I just tried to find the home tab on my Touch screen after trying out the Paperwhite for awhile.   :P I do wish Amazon could update the software in the Touch or at least the user interface to match that of the Paperwhite. The bigger menu buttons are a godsend and it is SO much faster.  :-*

I love the touchscreen. The up/down/left/right always seemed to mess up for me. Fat fingers I guess. But with the touchscreen it's easier for me to add to collection, highlight (darn pdf's) etc. No more scrolling!

I agree with Nouda, it is a whole lot faster.

I'm the worse when it comes to touch screens. I'm just not used to it I guess. AND I HAVE SKINNY FINGERS yet I still can't tap at the right places.. especially on my hubby's tablet. I try to close tabs on the browser and end up opening 10 new ones... before being able to close ONE of them.

Thanks for letting me know that its easier to highlight. That was another concern. I really like highlighting for quotes to add to "my clippings" and I didn't know if that would be easy to have to use a finger to highlight certain passages (sometimes a couple of paragraphs). What about highlighting a passage that starts from one page and continues to the next? Is it still simple or how does that work?

Huh. I dunno. Let me check.............................Yep its do-able but takes 2 hands. There may be another way but I haven't figured it out yet.

Another nice feature: if you hold your finger on a word the definition will come up on the screen.

Drag your finger from the starting passage to the bottom right corner, it'll turn the page automatically and continue the highlight.

I couldn't get mine to do that... Oh! And there it went. Thanks.

I have a Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD (Paperwhite is on my list of to-buy). I still use my Kindle Keyboard for reading. I love the Fire HD more than the Fire though both are great (in my opinion).

It depends on what you need. If you only want to read ebooks then get the Paperwhite. If you're looking for an all-purpose tablet that works with pretty much any form of media including video then the Kindle Fire would be a better choice.

I agree however if you are looking to get a tablet, then I would recommend getting the Nexus 7 or the Galaxy Tab as both of these are way superior to the Kindle Fire.

No thanks, I wouldn't use an iPad if you gave me one for free.  I always hated Apple's i range of portable products, such as the iPod, iPad and iPhone.

I think iPads (Apple in general) are way overpriced. I can understand if it's for an Apple desktop or laptop because those things are awesome though expensive... but a tablet? No, I'm not paying that price when the Nexus 7 is $200 and has oodles of great specs & features!

I was quite neutral towards the products until I started using the iPad. Now cant do without it. Boils down to personal preferences I guess.

Personally, I think people focus too much on the price of Apple products. I have an iPad 2 and a Kindle and I keep going back to the iPad because my iPad had no issues whatsoever (except me throwing it down and the screen cracking but Apple gave me a free replacement) in the year+ I've had it and my Kindle went kaput and I had to throw it out because it was un-fixable.

I was always against Apple products with the exception of the iPod which I can't live without that but a while back my laptop fizzled out and I decided to get a Macbook Pro... best decision I ever made too, it was more than worth the $2000+ it costs. I just prefer spend more money on something that lasts a long time than on something I end up replacing ever couple months/years.

Don't forget the awesome resale value! Apple products fetch a hefty premium on the second-hand market. Personally if I could afford a Macbook I'd buy one, but unfortunately it costs about 3x my current laptop.

That's so true. I've seen people selling older model Apple products for more than I would think they were worth.

I had one laptop before this one and it cost $1200 and for the six years that I had, I spend more money fixing it than what the Macbook cost me overall... so I just went for it and I couldn't afford it either but my mum helped me out by footing some of the bill because the work web design work I do on the side, I need a working laptop 24/7.
