Which E-reader are you using?
« on: October 13, 2011, 11:48 PM »
Hi, I wanted to know what is the most bought e-reader and the best place to do so is... here :D

If you have comments or like to expand more about your selection or the reasons - you're welcome! Your experience might help other users when they consider buying an e-reader. By the way, if you have two or more different e-readers you're certainly encouraged to vote for each of them! 8)  (Yes, the vote limit was modified. Much thanks to Mr. Admin!)

Any comments about the poll are also welcome.

All the best and thanks! :)

I could fix that, I will just take a page out of Guy Pearce book from his movie, Lockout.  All I need is some blonde hair dye, what shade of blonde would you like dirty or platinum?  :D

I did reply earlier but things have changed. I now have -

Kindle Paperwhite
Kindle Touch
Kindle Fire HD7
Sony T1
Kobo Mini

waiting delivery of Kobo Glo (today I hope)

I don't really read on the Fire, it's for laying in bed looking at the news and stuff. I'll be selling the Sony very soon. My son uses the Kindle Touch more than I do. So that leaves me with 3 ereaders. I love them and use them all (well I will if the Glo ever gets here!). I put different genres on different devices.

Yes I love my single purpose eink devices. I haven't read a paper book all year.

I'm using the EasyPad 700 tablet, a pretty old one but I got it incredibly cheap and it works like a charm.

I'm interested in all eReaders, so I have most.

However, I use the following few the most:

Kindle Paperwhite
Kindle Touch
Kobo Mini
iPad

The following I hardly use anymore:

Nook ST
Nook Color
Kindle Fire
Sony
Kindle Keyboard
Let all those believe, believe.  Let all those doubt, doubt.

For those who read ebooks on their computer, Calibre has an ebook-viewer application.
I open all the ebook formats with it (except .doc and some .html formats.)
I find it's more 'user friendly' than using a Kindle for PC and a microsoft reader for PC (for .lit books);
- I can go to the end of the book by pressing ctrl + end
- I can change the font, background color, etc.
- I can close the window by pressing ctrl + W
etc.

  Clicking on the ads generates revenue for PTS!

Since my old Sony PRS-505 has retired  :'( I use the Kindle Paperwhite. I just love it.

Occasionally I read on my ipad - only short stories, though or when my Paperwhite needs charging.
A dirty book is rarely dusty ;)

I got for present Kindle Fire from my company 16 GB.

The Kindle Fire is not the best tablet I've seen this year, but I have to give credit to Amazon for seeing something that no other manufacturer--not even Apple--was able to grasp. When you look at the gap between what tablets are capable of doing, and what people actually use them for, you'll find that most people just want to be entertained. I'm also a little surprised to see that Amazon hasn't included much in the way of parental controls on the Kindle Fire. Users are given a password option for the screen lock, and a password lockout option for the Wi-Fi connection, but there are no detailed controls for limiting playback of locally stored age-restricted material, or mature game content.

It's a beautifully constructed bit of kit: twist it and it barely creaks – the matte-black soft-touch plastics at the rear feel robust and feel grippy.
