Which E-reader are you using?
« on: October 13, 2011, 11:48 PM »
Hi, I wanted to know what is the most bought e-reader and the best place to do so is... here :D

If you have comments or like to expand more about your selection or the reasons - you're welcome! Your experience might help other users when they consider buying an e-reader. By the way, if you have two or more different e-readers you're certainly encouraged to vote for each of them! 8)  (Yes, the vote limit was modified. Much thanks to Mr. Admin!)

Any comments about the poll are also welcome.

All the best and thanks! :)

I just got a Nook Simple Touch this week and I love it so far. It's perfect for my needs. All i wanted was an e-reader. I have a laptop and an android phone so I don't need all of those extras that the Nook color and the Nook tablet offer. I love how the battery doesn't drain unless you are actually turning pages so you don't really have to turn it off (you just have to keep wi-fi turned off). Previously I was using Kobo on my Evo 4g and it was draining my battery so much that I had to put it on the charger at least 3 times a day if I was reading heavily. I love that if you go to Barnes & Noble you can read most of the books there for an hour a day. I haven't tried it yet, but I will. I wouldn't trade my Nook in for any other e-reader.

I use an Ipad, since that was what my dad chose to buy for me. And so far it works for me, and is really helpful to me since I don't have to lug my laptop to school along with my heavy readings. :)

I use the Aluratek Libre E-Book reader, and I find that I have more space and is easier to read then any read I've worked on yet.
I have worked on the Nook for my Aunt and can't stand it.
Mine reads more formats, music, pics and I just love it's features and for the price just can't be beat.

After buying books and constantly trying to find space of where to store them, I finally break down and got myself a Kindle 3g+wifi October last year. And so far it is the best decision I have ever made.

I am very OC when it comes to books. Call me selfish but I never EVER lend my books to someone. I have bad experiences when it comes to lending, so my bookshelves has locks. Yep you heard it right, it has dead bolts  ;D. I don't want to see any nicks or scratches or folds. In comes Kindle. It's very light weight and convenient to carry around. Very good investment too plus it saves space, lots of it.

 ;)

Because it would be a sad world without books!!!

My hubby bought me my Kindle last year for my birthday. I am a constant reader.. i had a whole room of books ready to go to the exchange book shop.. but i just kept adding more than i took back LOL. Hubby decided a Kindle would give him back the spare room..

I have to say that in 38 years of marriage, its the absolute BEST birthday present he ever gave me. I now have over 1500 books stored in my library, and thanks to STP i add more and more.. I LOVE this site!!

I got an iPad2 with 64GB + Wi-fi for reading ebooks whenever, wherever. I love reading but I choose not to bring books with me all the time because I hate it when a book gets ruined (i.e cover gets torn, spine cracks). Plus I can easily download the ebooks right into it. Also, the nighttime setting is perfect for when you want to read late at night until at 3AM... which I'm sure most of you do, haha. ;)

I did not want a device tied to a bookstore, and I prefer to use Calibre to manage my library, so I bought a Coby Kyros touch first - it died in 3 months.  Next, I bought a Lenovo 7" tablet and I just love it.  I am really careful with it and hope it lasts.

Before I used tablets, I had a dedicated ereader made by Southern Telecom called the Slick.  It was simple, easy to use, had a backlit screen (which I favor, because I mostly read in dim light conditions).  Some of the buttons became unresponsive after 14 months.  I'd buy another one if I could find one.  Sears has the next model and I may just buy one when it goes on sale again as a backup.

Our book club decided to go with Kindle for each member and I can honestly say it was a good choice. I also use Kindle for PC when I'm supposed to be working and now I've got my sister hooked on Kindle lovin'.

Currently using my ipad. Used to read on my dad's hand-me-down iphone, but i can download files directly to the ipad so I'm using it exclusively now. But I loved the iphone more in terms of mobility (dang, the ipad's heavy and it doesn't exactly fit into a purse)

Also have a kobo that my dad brought as a gift, but I didn't like it much and the poor thing's abandoned now.

I just read all of the posts here and I seem to be the odd one out, as I use something no one has mentioned yet.

I started with a Kobo Touch but wanted to upgrade so when the Kobo VOX came out I researched other readers but decided to stick with Kobo.  I got the VOX and I love it.  It is a tablet but is designed to be used primarily as an eReader.  You can have all of your books stored on the micro SD card and upload the books from the card as desired onto the reader.  That way you can keep the reader library small but still have access to all the books on the chip as needed.  I haven't found anything that I don't like about the VOX so I would recommend it if anyone is considering it.   :)

I have a Sony EReader Hubby bought me for Christmas about 5 years ago I love.  It has expandable memory, yay!
This year for my Birthday I got a Kindle Fire from him.  I like this one too because of the backlight when on roadtrips and reading in bed at night (no extra light needed) and multitued of freebies at Amazon.   Also, my kids love it for the game apps you can get.

E-book reader technology has taken e-book reading to a cutting edge level.  You can use your e-readers to read your books, magazines, newspapers and series anywhere in the world. There is some necessity of e-readers like chargers, covers and reading lights and earphones to enjoy some audio and video files. Amazon Kindle Accessories are famous amongst the readers. They are good provider for every kind of Kindle Earphones. You can enjoy the mp3 and other audios while you are on travelling.

I have a Sony touch ereader which I absolutely love.  It's helped me to rediscover reading again - I've read more books this past year than I have my entire life.

It's easy to download books but my only downfall is that my ereader sometimes freezes.   Does anyone have the same problem?

I remember by Sony reader doing the same sometimes, almost always with pdf files. Is it the same for you or does the reader freeze even with epubs?
Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you – not because they are nice… but because you are nice

I recently bought a Kindle 4 wifi... it's not as great as the previous one, that had a keyboard and could play audio books, but I wanted to read, so it's fine... for audio books I use my phone, so it's okay. :P Besides, it's light and small.

I have a Sony E-reader and i love it, it's easy to use, easy to upload books using calibre, i bought it with the cover and built in light, so it gives me the feel of carrying a book in hand, and the built in light is so convenient ( i read a lot in bed at night) i'm planning to upgrade in the future but i'm sticking with sony, i love the look and feel and how it runs.  :)

Stalking PTS!!!
